Hikari asked, "Usagi, why did you give up on Crystal Tokyo so easily? Your friends fought and died to protect that future, didn't they?"
Usagi blinked away tears and stared at a cloud before answering. "I don't want to be a queen and have subjects. I want friends and a somewhat normal life, but I could see no way out of what destiny had in mind for me. As to the other Sailor Senshi dying for Crystal Tokyo, we didn't even know about Crystal Tokyo until after the Doom Tree was dealt with and Chibi-Usa dropped out of the sky onto my head."
Mai said, "There's nothing wrong with a paradise, but I think the cost for that paradise was too high. The Earth being frozen and only a few people could enjoy it. Maybe we can build a better future. One where you don't have to rule."
Usagi asked, "Why did Doro say it was evil?"
Mai laughed a bit. "He's a policeman. He has to see the worst in everything to do his job properly. Don't get me wrong, I do agree somewhat with Doro. Hikari and I would be fighting to protect the Spirit World from destruction. That's part of our job description as Makendo. You were unaware of the Spirit World until now."
Usagi asked, "You mean there's still a chance for Crystal Tokyo?"
Mai replied, "Probably. But if it does come about, it'll be a lot different than what you saw on that trip to the future."
Doro appeared in mid air above the picnic table and slowly hovered downwards. He altered his trajectory just a bit to avoid the table altogether.
Mai sighed in resignation. "What is it Doro?"
Doro smiled. "Nothing bad. I've just been cleaning up some of the leftovers from the Sailor Senshi's battle with Beryl and her minions."
Usagi said, "I thought I reset time and got rid of all evidence of that fight."
Doro held out three glowing stones. "Hardly. You wished for your normal life back, not remove all evidence of that fight. Earth can never really forget something like that. Your friend Naru led me to where Neflyte was killed and I was able to track down the remnants of Beryl's fortress. I must say, you did quite a number on the place."
Usagi stared. "How could Naru remember Neflyte? She was also affected by what I did."
"The heart never really forgets," Doro explained. "She started seeing that Umino person shortly after Neflyte died, did she not?"
Usagi slowly nodded. "Yes. They're still dating as far as I know."
Doro said, "There you have it. Naru had no reason to start dating Umino, until after Neflyte. If Neflyte had not have shown up, the two of them would not be dating. Intense emotions usually screw up spells that affect the mind."
Usagi asked, "Those three stones, what are they?"
"The remnants of three of the Dark Generals serving Beryl, or at least their powers. Jeditie is still alive and is now going through restoration."
Hikari asked, "What are you going to do with those stones?"
Doro threw them up in the air and caught them in his hand and clenched his hand into a fist. "We need more members of Makendo. I hope to use the stones to construct three more Makendo devices."
Mai asked, "Are you going to tell them that they're going to be fighting something weird in ridiculous clothing?"
"There you go again, Mai," Doro said. "It's not that bad."
Usagi asked, "Mister Doro, do you really believe that Crystal Tokyo is evil?"
Doro sighed and looked at Usagi. "Tell me Usagi, have you ever heard of the Greek myth about Pandora and her box?"
Confused, Usagi said, "I think so. I'm not sure."
"There are two versions," Doro explained. "The most common had that in the bottom of the chest of evils that Pandora opened was Hope. The other version had Pandora slam the lid on the final evil called the Foreboding. This evil gave the ability to see the future. In that version, if that evil had gotten free, humanity would have died."
Usagi asked, "Why would humanity die from seeing the future?"
"Because that evil took away the uncertainty of the future and would have killed hope in the hearts of Man. Without hop, the will to live would fade," Doro answered. "If Crystal Tokyo does come about, it has to come naturally, not through a contrivance of the future. I personally think it is evil, since it originally came about like it did. I know that your fellow Senshi have worked hard at trying to bring about Crystal Tokyo. I don't hold any animosity towards you or them, due to it though. You just didn't have all the information."
Mai asked, "What about Sailor Pluto?"
Doro grimaced. "I pity her. When you first met her, she was dealing with the past. You had to travel to that future, to save it. Even with the Death Busters, she is dealing with something that was shown to her in the Time Gates in what she had to do. I don't think she has free will or very little."
Usagi muttered, "I never thought of that. Is there a way to...? I'm not sure what."
Doro said, "It's already started. You're one of the focal points for the future. If you work hard, you might be able to create something better than Crystal Tokyo."
Usagi asked, "Such as?"
Doro floated back into the sky. "Oh, I don't know. Maybe get the planets of the solar system inhabitable once again. You can have your kingdom Usagi, but keep it on the moon where it belongs. When you found out about Crystal Tokyo, you got complacent."
Usagi said, "I need to think about this."
Hikari, who had left unobserved earlier, came out of the house and said, "Usagi, your mom is on the phone. She'd like to talk to you."
Usagi said, "I didn't hear your phone ring."
Hikari smiled. "That's because I called your house."
Usagi sighed heavily and let Hikari lead her into the house. She picked up the phone to talk to her mom.
