Legacy of Seras: Adventure Down Under [Episode 142837]

by PsyckoSama

Kain growled as he lifted himself from the cold damp floor. He had fallen into the catacombs under Coorhagen, a dark place infested with the undead and commonly used for a burial chamber for the dead.

He smiled grimly. He and Seras should fit right in.

Looking around, Kain did not see the stunning Vampire girl, so rather than procrastinate, he called her name out loudly, "SERAS!"

"I'm hear, Kain!" he heard from across a thick stone wall just to his left.

They must have landed on opposite sides of it when they had fallen.

"We must find a way out of this dank hole," Kain remarked loudly.

"Brilliant Kain," Seras hissed, "Aren’t you are just the master of the bloody obvious!"

Kain smirked. "We should look for a way out. If we do not find the same exit we will meet at Koren's mansion, is that acceptable?"

Seras sighed. "Fine Kain…"

"Oh, and Seras?"

"Yes Kain?" she drawled.

"Beware. These catacombs are infested with lesser undead."

"Bloody wonderful…"

-----------------------

Seras Victoria roared as she impaled yet another worm ridden ghoul upon her pike.

This was just ridiculous! How many zombies were down here? Didn't they ever clean this place out?

She grunted as she pulled the long spear out of the dead zombie and brought the sturdy wooden crashing down upon the next zombie's head.

Or, at least she though it was sturdy, for with a loud crack the shaft cracked on impact. It was still in one piece but it did not seem like it would last much longer. It was just not made for this kind of constant combat.

"Oh bloody wonderful," Seras hissed, "I wonder if Kain is having this grand a time…"

--------------

Kain smiled as he looked upon the worm ridden corpse before him. No longer would he have to deal with the undead of these tombs. The undertakers and guards of this hellish underground realm were famed through Nosgoth for their creative and grim armor.

Bone armor.

Bone armor was crafted from the magically forged human bone, taken from the bodies of the undead and enchanted to possess the durability of light plate, and because of its nature, it easily confuses lesser undead into thinking you are one of its ilk.

It seems that the guards were not immune to the plague either.

Kneeling down, Kain removed the armor from the body, taking some time to wipe the interior down best he could in an attempt to partially get rid of the stench. Once he was satisfied, he removed his own Iron Armor and placed it in a bindle.

Kain stood proudly in his grin new uniform. He hoped Seras also found something interesting in this dank hole.

-----------

Hours later, a beleaguered Seras emerged from the catacombs. It seemed that this was a merchant's house or maybe a shop. She didn't care as long as it didn't have any more goddamn zombies.

"Hello, Seras."

She turned to face a smug looking Kain who was clad in armor made out of human bone.

"What's with the new getup?"

Kain laughed. "Lower forms of undead fall swiftly to deception. With this Bone armor, they are not as eager to challenge me."

"Wait," Seras growled, "You found a suit or armor that let you pass among them undisturbed?"

"Yes."

"While I had to fight my way through a veritable legion of the Evil Dead?!"

He shrugged, "I guess so, did you find anything of useful?"

"Kain," Seras hissed.

He sighed, and looked over. "Yes Seras?"

"You bastard!"

Seras brought the shaft of her damaged pike crashing down upon his head. Kain was thrown from his chair and the pike shattered from the force of the blow.

Immediately jumping to his feet, Kain sneered and drew his sword.

"You better have a good reason for doing that…"

Seras breathed deeply, took one look at the splintered remains of her weapon, and cast it aside.

"I feel better now."

Kain twitched. "You feel better now!?"

"Yes," she stated. "Much better."

Kain sighed and picked the chair back up. "I am not even going to attempt to discern what ever twisted feminine logic made you decide to shatter a pike over my head, but my question remains, what did you find?"

Seras dug into her pockets, drawing out several vials and a deck of cards.

"Any idea what these are?"

"Yes," Kain replied, "Anti-Toxins and the Pentalich of Tarot. The Anti-Toxin will cleanse out bodies of dangerous poisons. Quite useful, with all the filth we find ourselves surrounded by."

"And the Pentalich of Tarot?"

"Yes… It is a medley of death and evisceration." Kain laughed, "Let fate choose our enemy’s demise!"

Seras scowled. "Sounds brilliant."

Seras glanced out the window. It was still snowing.

"I guess we are stuck here for a while."

Kain nodded, "Yes, this storm looks like it may last for some time. The building is abandoned, but should the wait become too arduous we can return to by crypt at any time…"

Seras nodded, "Alright… now if you excuse me, I'll be taking a bath…"
