"You're too late!!!" she shrieked as she aimed her Time Key Staff at the other five. "By the time anyone can open the Gates, my gift to the world will have been opened!"
This was all the farther she got, before she was blitzkreiged by a rapidly moving blur of pink, red and white. Ami was the first to blink, as the screaming and sounds of combat fell away from the opening of the ancient device.
"Usagi," she stated, turning her head toward the hidden battle, "you are going to have to use a 'Moon Healing'."
Still frozen in the position she had arrived in, the Moon Princess managed to give a jerky nod and pulled the Cutie Moon Rod from it's hiding space.
Rei, Hotaru and Makoto quickly moved closer to the Gate itself, both to get away from any stray magic and to see what their mad team-mate had wrought.
The lab was sealed at the end of the Greater East Asian War and, except for a 'surprise' planted after the cement was used to seal the entrance, left to it's own devices for thirty years. Any mention of it's location had been quickly and completely eradicated, in hopes that their mad plans would never be discovered.
However, one clear and breezy day in the summer of '75, a backhoe tore open the ceiling of the hidden bunker; this, in itself would not have been bad, had a chunk of concrete struck a large, pressurized container that had been placed directly in the middle of the main lab floor. In that instant, a tongue of sparkling pink mist jetted high into the air, quickly reaching high enough to spray it's payload into the Jet Stream itself. Before three days had passed, the vapor had completely encircled the globe.
In the void around the Gates, the sounds of combat began to near the gathered Senshi once again. Usagi had 'put her game face on', finally, and held herself ready for the complex near-dance that she would be needed to launch her attack.
Ami stood just beside and behind her, stabbing her fingers rapidly on the minature keyboard of her computer. She called out to her leader. "Usagi, focus on healing and purging the evil! If you do that, Setsuna will be returned to normal!"
The odangoed girl shot a quick glance over her shoulder. "What about the other one?" she cried.
Ami looked up at her. "If they're not evil," the Senshi of Ice replied, "then they'll be alright!" She then pointed in front of them. "Here they come!!!"
The moon princess whipped her gaze back forward. In front of her, Setsuna stumbled toward her, her body gripped by a pair of strong arms holding a long, round red strap. A head, obscured by a disheveled mop of platinum-white hair was poking over the eldest senshi's shoulder. The mysterious person called out in a shriek. "Now, Moon! I can't hold her long!"
In that moment, Usagi released her attack, bathing the pair in a silvery light.
The vapor that had covered the Earth came back down in the rains over the next year, delivering their payload into the drinking waters. No one was the wiser to this, until a year had passed and the effects had started to come into effect.
Men and women both began to notice that their features had started to become softer and younger. Few made more than a passing remark to it, chalking it up to the luck that they lived on such a great planet, or other such drivel.
Then came the changes to everyone's skin tones. By this time, however, it was much too late to stop. Men, women and children of all ages watched in shock and dread, as the entire planet began to shift...
As the glare died down, the senshi blinked in shock and surprise. For, in front of them, holding in her arms their errant teammate, was a much changed Chibi-Usagi - though 'Chibi' hardly would fit, now.
Standing easily as tall as Haruka or Michiru, the future Senshi had ruby colored skin and onyx-hooved, digigrade legs that were shapely, even if they were nowhere near the human norm. Her eyes were still a bright blue, but the irises were now in the shape of a four-pointed star. As she carried the quietly sleeping Time Senshi toward the others, they could see that what they had taken as a whip had, in fact, been her tail; the way the spade-tipped limb wove back-and-forth, independant of her body's motion, proved that fact. They also noticed that what they had thought was a intricately formed tiara, were a pair of horns that swept back from a diamond crescent that appeared to grow out of the skin of her forehead.
Jostling the jade-maned woman slightly, the future princess waved at the stunned Inners and Hotaru with a black-taloned and fine-boned hand. "Hi guys!" she chirruped, in a voice that was virtually identical to her mother's. "Miss me?"
Silence was her only response.
