The demonic neo-Moon set down Pluto gently. Once she had returned to fully upright, she tried again. "Ahhh, minna?" she asked in a perplexed tone, "Is there a reason why you six don't look like you normally do?"
A voice from further off in the mists, also familiar in it's tone to the still Homo Sapien Senshi, sounded out. "Usagi, give them a moment. If this is what we were warned of, then we might just be spooking them slightly."
Jupiter was shaken from her stupor. "Hold on a minute," she gasped. "I'm here. Who's that?"
The others instantly went into battle-mode. Raising her computer in the direction of the voice, Mercury began to type at a speed that would have gotten her in the Guinness Book.
After a moment, she had part of an answer. "According to the data I have so far, it's another like Chi.... ah, her," she stated, trailing off on the explanation as she pointed at the scarlet-skinned Senshi.
The horned girl giggled. "That's just my ohma," she assured them.
As the changes progressed, the general response of humanity was that this was reversible.
They were wrong.
The second response was that this was the end of Humanity.
In this, they were more correct. For a period of twenty-four months, the world's birthrate fell to exactly zero.
When one half of the race suddenly becomes the same gender as the other half, such a result is expected.
Then a pair found out about what happens when you stick certain appendages into certain other people's obvious receptacles.
And it was good...
A faint tap, tap of hooved feet approached the girls from behind neo-Moon. The girls relaxed slightly, as the shillouette that formed was fairly obvious. The head was topped by a tall hat, and the person was carrying a cane and a rose.
"Mamo-chan!" the human Moon Senshi cried out.
The response was somewhat shocking. The same voice as before responded to her. "Well, yes and no."
The problem began to come about as the changes reached their final stage.
Identification was the primary one. It began to become apparent that the new bodies people were finding themselves in were sorely limited in the variety.
In fact, there were only nine faces to be distributed between six billion individuals.
This fact held true, even when a pair were of different facial types. The child of that union would end up looking like one of her parents, or possibly even look like one of the other seven body-types. She would never look like a mixture of her parents.
This boggled scientists for years. Crossbreeding was proven out in all other spieces on the planet, but Homo Sapiens Secundus was immune to it.
To mystics and spiritualist, it was clear. Each facial type, these more enlightened ones found, was linked to a planet in some way, as well as the normal linkage to Earth. A single strand, no larger than a gossamer thread, stretched from the person tested to a planet in the solar system. If you looked at someone with green hair, for example, she connected with Pluto. A blonde would touch Venus.
Except for nine girls born in 1980. Eight of those girls, instead of a strand of energy, seemed to have a solid rope of energy that appeared to be composed of all the strands that had came from the planet and a strand to the Earth.
The ninth, which looked like one of the others, had a linkage to the planet Earth that appeared to be the end point of every living being. And no 'planetary' linkage at all. This girl was the center-point to the 'web of life' that they had long theorized would come.
And her name was...
"Mamoru?" Usagi squeaked.
A deep, throaty chuckle came back, as 'Tuxedo Kamen' stepped from the mists.
She was tall and solid. Her auburn hair, held in a a high ponytail, complemented her ruddy skin and contrasted with the emerald horns that held her top hat off of her brow. Her shapely body was draped in black silk, but it was assured by the way her body moved, this being was well-used to the way that her body moved.
The six girls blinked once, twice, then turned as a single unit to the now-stirring Pluto and screamed as one.
"SETSUNA!!!"
