“Uncute Tomboy!” Ranma entered in shortly thereafter, a large red imprint on his cheek showing where Akane had slapped him. He grumbled a bit as he closed the door behind him. “ Like I can help it if Shampoo wants to glomp me during her afternoon delivery runs.”
Ranma continued on muttering before he paused noticing Kasumi standing there smiling at him. “Hey Kasumi, we’re home. What’s up?”
“Oh my, welcome home Ranma. Oh. You got a letter in the mail.” Kasumi smiled brightly as she held up a envelope.
“And Pop didn’t already open it?” Ranma replied surprised. “Well what is it? A challenge? It’s been rather quiet lately.”
“Oh, Grandfather Happosai was helping Father and Mr. Saotome with Father's council work. Something about ensuring a new type of dance club/restaurant got its permits approved. I’m sure it will be a lovely establishment and isn’t it nice that Grandfather Happosai is helping the community? Maybe we should go help out at the new place?” Kasumi smiled brightly as she spoke.
Ranma paused and considered. In particular he considered exactly what TYPE of club or restaurant the old freak would want to put his personal interest behind making sure he opened. He winced slightly. “Ummm... I don’t think that would be a good idea Kasumi. It might.... uhhh... be improper for the local councilman's daughter to be seen umm..... working for a place he’s pushing to be built.... Yeah! That’s it! It would look like...umm.. favoritism!”
Ranma smiled as he sweated heavily, hoping Kasumi would buy his excuse.
“Oh... if you're certain Ranma. Maybe we should wait a bit to see the place than. After all it wouldn’t do to have people think Father is doing improper business dealings.”
Ranma sighed heavily, before remembering the original start of this conversation. “Oh yeah, about that challenge letter Kasumi?”
Kasumi paused and then handed the envelope to Ranma. “Oh here you go Ranma-kun.”
Ranma smiled in thanks as he opened the envelope. A second later he frowned. “Hey wait a minute this isn’t a challenge letter..... It’s.......”
