"A 'foxgirl'?" Fuyutsuki replied.
"That's what it looks like. The furry tail and ears do seem to fit."
"I see. So we now have a literal angel, a catgirl nurse, what is at least a cyborg, and now a foxgirl."
"Essentially how things are, sir."
The Vice-Commander turned to his boss. "What do you think?"
"If I didn't know any better," Gendo muttered, "I'd think that someone was laughing at me."
"Sir?"
"Forget what I said, and focus on them."
"Understood."
Being as she'd been a rather intelligent young woman who had only gone back to junior high classes because she'd been ordered to, Asuka wasn't too freaked out over the fact that she was waking up in an odd place. After sessions of hard studying, she knew how to understand how she could wake up in places other than her bed. Then there was the fact that as the pilot of a combat mecha on the front line of a war with giant, and powerful, aliens, she was aware that it was entirely possible that she would wind up in a hospital bed.
That didn't mean that she didn't bury her face into her pillows and groan at the intrusion of the real world on her sleep time.
It took a few minutes, but soon enough, she was convinced that she wouldn't be able to get back to sleep. So, with the confidence that she'd always shown, she got up to a sitting position, and slid off the bed. Doing so had made her tail slide along the sheets, but she hadn't wanted to work to get off the mattress.
And then she realized that she hadn't been bearing a tail before she fell unconscious.
Pulling the new appendage around, she looked it over, and saw that it was a bushy tail that was certainly attached to her backside and was covered in red-brown fur, except for the white tip. Rubbing the pain away from her backside showed her that it was a bit tighter than it had been, and once she looked down, she saw that her chest was fuller, and firmer. A look in a mirrored surface showed her that her ears were now on top of her head, and that she had cute little fangs that made her look slightly naughty.
Yet, with all of these changes, she didn't feel that bad about the whole thing. Sure, she had a whole new look, but she actually felt better than she had in a long time. It wasn't too bad a change, and she was aware that if anything bad were to come up, there would be those out to handle it.
Though, she did have an inexplicable urge to go find Shinji. She put it down to concern over the guy, since he tended to be caught up in things that were too big for him, and if this had happened to her, something might have happened to him. That didn't do much beyond give her a reason to think that way, but she needed it at the moment.
At the moment though, she didn't know what exactly was going on, while:
