Magitech: Samaritan Citizens [Episode 144258]

by Kender

Some might not think of him as such, but Genma Saotome actually had no problem in fighting himself. He was a strong martial artist, who had all sorts of tricks up his sleeve. If he thought that he actually had a chance of winning, then the fight itself wouldn't be such a problem. Despite the fact that he was lacking in some areas of common sense, he didn't have any trouble in identifying his own fighting levels and could judge things well enough to handle a fight well enough as to not have to worry.

However, that didn't mean that he liked to fight. If he could avoid it, he would, and took every opportunity to make it so. After all, if he could use words to trick some shop owner, or could make the other party accept his begging for forgiveness, then it was so much the better. That would mean that he wouldn't have to put any effort into the fight.

Such wasn't the case at the moment, though. With the experience he'd gained from all the angry men trying to attack him, he'd learned how to handle this sort of problem. Attacking such weak guys would merely hurt them, and take time from him getting away, as he knew that if there was one 'wronged' man around, there was likely to be more of them nearby. Considering the fact that it was easier to get away at the first warning, he didn't think that it would be a good idea to stay long.

Not that he had exactly the right sort of situation going on. Normally, the focus would be on making him pay, through the liberal application of violence, for any perceived slight that he'd 'given'. At first, that was what he got, as the bodyguard sliced the knife near him.

But after the first dodges he gave, Genma realized something. When the man should have been after him, he was ignored, as the attacker went after his son. His boy was a strong fighter and could avoid such slow strikes, but it was still a shock. It wasn't like he'd had much experience with this sort of variation, and he had trouble figuring out why it was happening.

So, when he bumped into a stall, he dismissed it faster than he would have normally, and ignored the owner's cries of annoyance. Yet, that man caught a bit of his attention as well, as he yelled and pointed at the man with the knife. Of course, at about that time, others had noticed as well, and instead of a group of men noticing the center of their women's lusts, they were all clearly disturbed by the assault.

And rather than attacking Genma, something new happened.

With yells of righteousness, some of those around them came forward. At first, it was rather strange, as he could not figure out why they were doing that. Then it became clear as some raised their hands and called out words in the local language that did not need any translation. Some shot water at the attackers, and others used wind, but the effect was the same. The bodyguards cringed under the attack, and were certainly not pleased by the turn that things had taken.

As a result, they started to fight back, with a confused Genma watching, while:
