Seras sneered and took up a defensive posture as she saw guard standing at the doors to the inner keep.
Kain smiled and looked over. "Maybe not… but they are frozen solid and dead they stood. Their flesh is welded to the cold metal of their armor. I doubt they will be putting up any significant resistance."
Seras looked over to him. "I can see that, but honestly, has that stopped anything in this godforsaken hole?"
Kain chuckled darkly. "Of course not. I never said your paranoid was unfounded."
Seras rolled her eyes and sighed. "God I hate this place.
Kain rubbed his eyes. "My eyes yearn from lack of contrast, my mouth aches for want of blood. We should destroy the Sarafan and leave here quickly."
She sighed and nodded giving the guards one last glance. "I almost wish they were alive…"
"As do I, in this cold wasteland, food is scarce, and my hunger grows."
Seras sneered in disgust. Kain did not know if it was a sign of her reluctance to feed from the living, his ravenous hunger, or a bit both, but either way, the needed to get going.
Kain pushed open the door to the keep and entered Malek's great hall. In the darkness of sparse and cold hall, a frozen corpse held court on a tattered throne, grinning malignantly through blackened teeth.
From the shadows stepped the form of Malek the Paladin.
Kain sneered and drew his weapon.
"I am impressed Vampires. You have entered my inner sanctum, and destroyed my Sarafan Wraiths. I can honestly say that I am impressed. This will be a battle worth fighting…"
Seras looked at the body. "That’s you isn't it"
"Yes," he stated morosely, punctuated by a deep metallic sigh. "It is not often that a man sees his own corpse, it is a sobering experience,"
He changed position and brought his pole arm to the ready with a flourish.
"But I am far less interested in my own corpse than I am in yours. Prepare yourselves."
