Ranma & Terratoo: Celebrity Matchup [Episode 144753]

by Kestral

It was one thing to be a hero who had done something. Another to be a celebrity simply for being.

Ranma discovered several things about his current status. While many considered his potential genetic contribution to be potentially valuable, he would still need to contribute to the overall society. The idea of a celebrity being able to rest for their entire lives on that status wasn't in keeping with a recently developed colony world. He might eventually be called in to appear regularly on talk shows for "offworld opinion" but that would require he engage in some other unfamiliar activities. Talking in front of a large audience and expected to give profound insights just struck him as a job he was ill equipped for. If that happened - it would still be years off anyway.

In the current case, he was looking at a potential career. Dojo instructor was a possibility. Apparently on the Southside of Japoness proper was an abandoned dojo, and he could move in and begin refurbishing without much effort.

Another potential career was Agent. The guy Otaru Mamiya was one such, but possibly retiring to run a restaurant. He would be required to go off and risk his life for the Japoness people on an irregular basis.

"So why is he dancing?" asked the first tech. "And badly at that."

"Maybe he didn't notice the video pickup?" asked the second tech.

"Nevah gunna be a gurl again! Nevah gunna be a gurl again!"

Ranma didn't know what it was, the question never actually occurring to him. Distance from Jusenkyo/Jusendo? Slightly different laws of physics? Just the age of Jusenkyo at this point having lost its magic, or perhaps Jusendo had dried up? It might have been these or dozens of other factors.

The only thing he was absolutely sure of was that he was wet and cold and M-A-L-E.

It was a happier Ranma who sat down to consider his career options and decide to at least try:
