Now, it was different. Instead of people coming to fight him, he had all sorts of people looking to actually just talk to him. He'd been inundated with officials, dignitaries, and various other people who had all wanted to get on his good side apparently. After all, each of them seemed to try really hard to not insult or offend him.
But it wasn't until a young man had accompanied some higher ups that he'd managed to get an idea of what was going on.
Years of training had gotten him able to hear rather well, so he had little trouble hearing the young worker's excited voice. "I can't believe that I got to meet the boy who fell from the stars!"
"Really?" murmured a voice that was probably the man's boss. "You are that excited about this?"
"Well... yes. I mean, everyone's talking about him. Everyone. And I met him!"
"That you did."
"But...."
"What?"
"He's not what I expected...."
The elder man chuckled. "He's not what anyone expected."
"I know.... But... It's still great."
"Ah, the energy of youth."
"It is!" the younger man replied, and the sound of footsteps sounded going away from the room.
But that did not matter. Ranma understood part of the reasoning behind all the visits. However, he was also very aware of something else, and thought that maybe there was a connection to his 'fame'. Their leaving had allowed him to think about what he'd just learned before they'd arrived, and though he didn't want to think about it, he was very aware of the fact that he was going to have to.
After all, he had two documents that he'd been given and were now hidden in his bedside table. They were both about 'gifts' that he was being given, and they told him just what he would be getting. One was about a petgirl that a New Texas company was going to provide him. Fortunately, they'd nixed the 'catgirl' angle when he'd cringed at the word, but soon enough he'd have a pet that was both animal and girl. The other was about a Japoness company that was going to build him a marionette of his own. So, he'd own a robot girl that would be programmed to serve and be loyal to him.
He didn't know if this was good or bad at the moment, but he was going to get them either way. These girls would be gifts to him, and he was very aware of how much trouble he could get in if he refused.
Blowing out a breath, he sat himself up, and looked around before deciding to see:
