But how? The radio's information didn't really seem that ... collected. She wanted news from a more reliable source. Unfortunately, the most reliable source she had any confidence in at the moment was herself. "To action," she decided, climbing out of the furo, drying off, and quickly dressing.
She'd chosen slacks for the day, not certain why, but thinking that a skirt might not be the most ideal form of dress. As she stepped out into the street, she realized that her hunch was well founded.
Litter was strewn across the streets -- the aftermaths of wild orgies of destruction and.... "Admit it to yourself, 'Biki," she grumbled. "Just plain 'ol orgies." She climbed over the ruins of a giant bed with four enormous posts and a great canopy, and then rolled down to the street, landing in an awkward pile. "Oof," she muttered, pleased to see that just beyond that obstruction, the streets were relatively clearer.
She didn't see many people, though she could hear a lot of yelling. Well, that meant a lot of people were affected. That was information.
She walked a bit deeper into the city, listening. Generally, the cries she heard were the ones she expected, and she took a moment to savor the morning. She was alone, she realized, the only one still calm and cool enough to be outside and try to approach the situation rationally. She could always look back on this day and remember being surrounded by, and being aware of others, all wrapped in their personal problems, and unable to look at one-another.
Or, she realized with a nervous gulp, she could be trying to distract herself from the potential consequences of her actions. No, she thought, galvanizing hir thoughts. That wasn't it at all. So she turned to listen.
She heard angry shouts, and sorrowful tears. Too, she heard tears of joy, and amazed laughter. She smiled at that. Why would she want to distract herself at all? It could be entirely a good thing, right?
But ... why was there so much more crying than laughing? Why was so much of the crying from women? Shouldn't there be more angry noises from men?
