"Heh, give it up, boy. You're no match for me!" Genma gloated, standing over the defeated kendoist. "I've been saying it for two months now: You'll never get past me to date Akane. I've worked too hard for too long to get my son and Tendo's daughter married to give all that up to the first rich kid to come along sprouting flowers and pretty phrases!"
Genma began to weep crocodile tears, clenching a fist and declaring to the heavens, saying more than he'd intended to, and certainly more than was wise. "I've struggled and sacrificed coercing my uncooperative son into this match, given up lazy days of pleasure training him to be the best, shouting down his objections and forcing him to live up to his obligation to marry Soun's daughter! All of our schemes to get them together shall not be in vain! That's MY dojo! I've bought it with my blood, and pain and tears over years of training, bending my stubborn son's will to conform to mine. I'll never give that up! NEVER!!"
Genma hauled back one foot, shouting, "My boy will marry Akane no matter how much he hates the idea!!"
POW!!
Tatewaki Kuno went flying over the rooftops, stunned more by what he'd heard declared than by those bruises.
Genma smugly dusted his hands off against each other in a self-satisfied way before stopping, his ears picking up as he heard the slap of shoes upon the pavement.
"FREEZE!! Scumbag!!"
The local police force had arrived. No, correction, they'd given up and sent in the SWAT teams. Over a dozen rifles and pistols were pointed at the elder Saotome, who sweated. He'd have taken care of that Kuno boy long ago if he hadn't been forced to keep dodging police all night, breaking off their fights. Kuno had gotten it into his head that he was serving Justice trying to bring him in, and wound up assisting the officers half the time, and the other half forcing Genma out of hiding by forgetting all about their fight and heading on to the dojo, intending to sweeten up Akane with gifts and poetry.
Well, no technique should be sealed if he could use it to save his neck. Genma directed a vacuum blade into the pavement below his feet and used the cover to invoke his invisibility technique, streaking off while the officers didn't dare risk opening fire randomly.
Hmm, he was hungry. Now where could he stop for a bite to eat?
