Jedi Knight 1/2: Tendo vs. Tendo vs. Tendo. Breakfast challenge! [Episode 145344]

by Sgt. Chibi De`Ohki

Nabiki had not a fraction of the skill in martial arts that her sister did. But that didn't mean she couldn't still try to avert disaster. She tackled Akane in a flying leap, which seemed to surprise her, until the two rolled down the stairs, their nightgowns getting tangled and partially unbuttoned.

"You pervert!" Akane cried out in surprise, shoving Nabiki away. "Trying to feel me up!"

"Waaaah!" Nabiki managed, before crashing through the paper-thin divider, and landing in the furo with a splash. She spent a moment to lie there, wet and confused before she climbed to her feet, thankful the landing hadn't been worse.

Akane sniffed from the hallway and said, "That's what you get for hanging around Ranma too long, Nabiki. Anyway, I think I'll make everyone some French toast!"

Wracking her mind, Nabiki watched her sister head to the kitchen. "Wait!" she yelled, before Akane reached the end of the hall.

Sighing, Akane turned around. "Yes?" she asked, obviously annoyed at the distraction.

"You can't make breakfast this morning!"

"Why not?" Akane replied dubiously. "It's not a school day, so there's no worry about being late."

"Did you forget?" Nabiki asked, hitting on an idea suddenly. "We were supposed to ... take Kasumi out somewhere nice today!"

Akane blinked at this.

"We were?" she asked dubiously.

"Yeah!" Nabiki exclaimed. "I'd been planning it since Ranma left -- you know, and kind of ... uh ... Kasumi-appreciation day. Why make Kasumi breakfast by hand? None of us could ever cook as well as she could, but we could buy something really nice!"

It was poor logic, Nabiki thought, after unleashing the argument. Still, it didn't outright say, 'Kasumi won't appreciate your toxic sludge, you baka.'

Akane considered for a long moment, and then nodded reluctantly. "I guess I'm not as good as Kasumi," she admitted. "You're right."

Nabiki blew out a sigh of relief; one tragedy averted. Now, how to make sure Kasumi didn't see the door Akane had pitched Nabiki through.... "Hey, why don't you get dressed, while I fix the door?" she asked. She was reasonably certain a few spares were stashed away somewhere; they seemed to break around Ranma with startling regularity.

"I want to take a bath before I dress," Akane said, frowning. "But I guess I can't, since you broke the bathroom."

Nabiki blinked, unused to being the target of Akane's assaults when she hadn't been sneaking outfits from Akane's closet. "Er," she said slowly, thinking. "You're right. I guess I should talk to Kasumi while you replace the door. Better let the people who know how to fix things do it."

Akane nodded, and Nabiki wrung out her dripping nightgown before heading up the stairs, mumbling to herself under her breath. Once she got back to her room, she quickly changed into a dry outfit, pausing to spy on Kasumi's room one more time. All she could hear was breathing, and what sounded like cloth sliding across skin; undoubtedly she was just finishing getting dressed.

Moving to the hallway, Nabiki thought about her next course of action.
