Ranma's New Life/Summoning Horse: It's The End Of The World?! [Episode 145681]

by Kestral

Professor Oak was a world renowned specialist in the summons. Each person had a maximum number of summons they could learn and maximum power of the summons, and part of his research had allowed for that factor to become something that could be tested. Of course, the exact number was something that could only be determined after the individual had hit their peak, but just the initial ratings of "Zilch", "Low", "Average", "High", and "Master" were handy for a number of reasons.

Here in Pallet Town (the main industry once being the making of pallets, those wooden board constructions that were used in shipping) there were six candidates whose summoning ability was greater than the "1-5" average.

Gary, of course, had a potential rating of "Master" - whether he'd ever achieve that level was another thing altogether. He tended to be loud and obnoxious.

Ash was another potential "Master" but was continually late, somewhat of an idiot, and showing up an hour early for the most important day in his life so it was doubtful he'd amount to much... ?! Waitaminute.

The Professor rubbed his eyes. No, that couldn't be. Could it? He looked again, then checked the clock. The Time Key Staff was at the twelve, the hand pointing straight down. Six O'Clock.

ASH WAS AN HOUR EARLY?!

Was it a sign of the Apocralypse? Was it even now snowing in the outer wards of Niffleheim?

"Pixie!" summoned Professor Oak. A six inch tall girl stuck her head out of the cookie jar. "You can have a cookie when you get back. Go check with my stock broker and see if the End Of The World occurred while I wasn't looking."

"Eh?"

"Yes, Oksana, I know. The cookies are real. Go check anyway, they'll still be here when you get back."

She stuck her tongue out at the professor but sped away anyway, pausing only to look longingly back at the jar before she exited out a window.

Professor Oak considered briefly before going ahead and starting down. Maybe it was just Ash was finally taking responsibility seriously? Or maybe he'd gotten so worked up about getting his own pokegirl that he hadn't slept?

Whatever the case, it looked like he might be able to get back to research sooner than he'd hoped.
