And from that, 'Serenity Street' was created. There were various names for different countries, but in the end, it was basically the same wherever one went. Children loved it, as in the manner of fads, it grew a large fan base. However, as this was a show sent to them by real live aliens, a lot of kids saw it as 'cool', and while it was not something that one would consider to be worth watching when one got older, there was a bit of desire to have a more 'grown up' version. So, the show was basically like a lot of the shows that followed that sort of vein.

They couldn't duplicate what they were seeing, and perhaps couldn't understand the principles behind it, but they could at least use it to put them on the right track.
So, as reactionary groups within some of the countries claimed that the show was an 'attack on our morals and mores', the Soviets kept it quiet, and the Chinese set up 'jamming towers' to keep out the 'propaganda' from Japan, much of the rest of the world had the show on their airwaves. They watched, and learned, as they tried to deal with what they were being shown.
