Dragon Wives: Oafish Old Guys [Episode 146427]

by Red Priest of the 17th Order

“This does not bode well, Tendo,” Genma said as he sat next to his old pal on the veranda of the Tendo Dojo. The two of them had taken to sleeping inside of the Dojo once Ranma had come back to China with those... People. It seemed like those two females in skimpy clothing knew everything that was going on while they remained inside the main structure. Heck, the tanned brunette seemed to pop up from out of nowhere just as soon as he had said something incriminating akin to genius-ness which would get them off of the Tendo Property or make that foolish boy settle down with Akane.

Slowly nodding his head, the Tendo Patriarch let off a small sigh of anguish. “I told you letting him go to China was a bad idea.” Ever since Ranma had come back with those two new ‘houseguests’, he had more or less been usurped of his stead as head of his home. “And worse, they’re continuing to keep him and Akane apart!”

Raising an eyebrow, Genma looked at Soun with a serious look. “I wouldn’t say they’ve been apart completely. It’s a perfect example of my original plan. Separation and longing make the heart grow fonder.” After all, the only reason he budged on the whole concept of Ranma going off to China was so the boy could get things right for once and come back with a cure Akane could take time to reflect on just how lucky she was to be with such a wonderful, handsome and strong fiancé.

Now it was Soun who was staring at his partner in crime with a curious gaze. “Saotome, how can you say that!? Those two... Gaijin are keeping Akane and Ranma separated. She barely got two words out before they started making my daughter keep her distance from your son!”

Letting off a grunt, Genma nodded his head. That much was true. “But still, have you seen how she hovers around that group with such anxiousness? Why, this could be the break we’ve always wanted.”

Soun looked Genma right in his beady little eyes. “...Saotome, what are you smoking, and why aren’t you sharing?”

“Just bamboo,” Genma admitted. “But that’s not the point! These girls are making Ranma and Akane keep their distance from one another, but it’s not like THEY can stop the course of true love. Why, I’m sure they’ll soon tire of this and go off to do something else like a lot of those other would-be fiancées have. And with her opening, Akane will jump into my boy’s awaiting arms and then we’ll have what we’ve always wanted, Tendo my friend!”

“Be that as it may,” Soun said in a warning voice. “Couldn’t we have a scenario where we aren’t kicked out of my house!?”

Genma nodded his head. “True. Those girls were very anxious to throw us out of the building after out first attempt to eject them from your home,” Genma said as he remembered how the smaller one lifted both him AND son in either arm before literally throwing them over the gates of Soun’s property. That little lady in orange had some serious strength. “I mean, all we did was calmly tell them that Ranma was rightfully Akane’s fiancé and NOT their husband.”

Soun nodded his head firmly in agreement. “Yes. When they had declared that the ‘master’ of the home had returned with his new wives, it was something we could not stand by, and had to set straight right away!”

Of course, both Soun and Genma’s idea of calmly telling someone their wants and needs was with brute force and intimidation... Areas of expertise that the duo naturally excelled in, found themselves thoroughly trounced by these two foreign women.

It was a fact that still had them both seething in anger deep down.

“Still,” Genma said finally to break the long silence. “This COULD be of some use.”

“Some use?” Soun parroted. “How could those rambunctious and troublesome gaijin be of any use. They claimed Ranma is their husband, have taken over MY HOME, and are making US LIVE IN THE DOJO!”

The Saotome Patriarch nodded his head. “True as that is, this can still be of SOME use.”

“How, pray tell, is this of use for getting Akane and Ranma together!?” Soun yelled. These past two days have had the man on edge and it was starting to effect him more so than usual.

Raising his hands in a warding motion, Genma frantically said, “Relax, relax, and let me explain!”

Calming down for a moment, Soun gave Genma the incentive to express the new plan his pea-sized brain had concocted over two nights of sleeping on hard-wood floors and eating their meals in the backyard rather than at the table.

“Well, it’s like this... You know how those two seem hell-bent on keeping Akane away from him?” Genma asked.

“Didn’t we already go over this?” Soun asked irritably.

Genma managed a small smirk. “What if they’re like that to the OTHER girls trying to muscle in on claiming my boy?”

Blinking his eyes a few times in surprise, Soun asked, “You think they’d do that?”

“Of course!” Genma said with no small amount of glee. “Those other girls are bound to cause trouble, hounding Ranma as they would-”

“Which will cause those two house-stealers to boot them off as they would Akane!” Soun finished, already catching onto what his friend was insinuating. “Ingenious, Saotome!”

Smiling rather smugly, Genma crossed his arms over his chest and nodded his head. “Don’t I know it!”

Another moment of silence passed before Soun asked, “But won’t they still be keeping Akane away from him?”

“That they will,” Genma admitted.

“SO HOW WILL THAT HELP US!?” Soun went back to wailing.

Still smiling, Genma answered, “That’s when we go to stage two of my master plan.”

Blinking his eyes once, twice, thrice, Soun asked, “Master plan?”

Genma gave his old time friend/accomplice in crime a rather evil smile. “We make SURE Ranma and Akane get together.”

“And how do we do that?” Soun asked anxiously.

Genma’s smiled widened. “We’ll do that with...”
