Then had come the boy. A terrified little boy who knew some martial arts. A human host, helpless before it.
Perfect.
Once inside he'd been able to start the boy's growth cycle and nudge it along here and there.
The Goa'uld's name had been lost. Once he'd been a loyal servant of Bastet, except that he'd been "loaned" to Nirrti on a matter the two System Lords had been cooperating on. That hadn't gone well - for him at least.
The System Lords had their little power intrigues, but someone had to keep things running. Jaffa were not allowed to learn to read and write or how any of their devices operated. Who then could work out the basics of recovered technology and make it work in new locations, much less duplicate it?
That was who he was. One of those nameless flunkies that kept the System Lords in power. Yet with some of the things Nirrti had been working on - he had seen the possibilities a System Lord was blind to. Let others squabble over their territories and petty concerns. He could attain a level of godhood that the System Lords only pretended to.
Unfortunately, he'd been caught. Nirrti had made a present to return to Bastet - with him contained within a canopic jar to an endless tortured existence. Except his containment had indeed come to an end.
He was still on Earth, and he'd gotten away from that fat fool years ago. Though the same fool had tracked him down twice now.
The trip to what was now Iraq had been most useful. An old buried cache that had lain undisturbed for thousands of years. Of course most Goa'uld had one or two such backup resources, but he'd hidden his farther away and in such a way that it had lain undisturbed since then. The pel'tak had been located elsewhere in the system, but it had come to the signal soon enough.
Now he had just a few things left to do. Eventually he'd have revenge on Bastet and Nirrti. Wouldn't that be sweet? His next step on that path:
