"Belldandy!" Urd cried urgently as she rushed into the shrine, kicking the sliding doors open in her hurry.
"Urd? What is... What happened?!" Belldandy cried her question in horror when she saw two very bloodied and charred demons rush after the goddess, one of them carrying a limp woman's body in his arms.
Ranma rushed to Belldandy's side, cradling his wife's agonizing form in his arms. "Can you help her?" He asked plainly, his worry and pain obvious in his voice.
The goddess of the present examined Kodachi's broken body and pursed her lips worriedly. "I'll do what I can," she said as Ranma placed his wife down, even if she knew there was little to no chance of Kodachi surviving so much damage.
Mara slumped against a wall, her own injuries taxing her seriously, and watched as Belldandy started to cast healing spells on Kodachi. Ranma remained by Kodachi's side the entire time, holding her hand and speaking encouragement to a woman that could no longer hear him.
It had all been going so well, they were having great fun with that chef, and suddenly a gas pipe was damaged with Ukyo's last attack. The next thing they all knew they were at ground zero of a huge explosion.
Mara could survive such an ordeal.
Ranma could laugh it up.
...
... Kodachi could not.
As soon as they recovered their wits Ranma went for Kodachi and they rushed back to Belldandy, since the potions they used to regenerate the damage done to Ukyo didn't seem to work on the gymnast. That alone told Mara the Black Rose was most likely done for, yet she found she couldn't tell Ranma that. She preferred that someone else be the one to tell the incredibly dangerous demon that his human wife was a lost cause.
Urd rushed her way through the shrine, looking for Nodoka to keep her away from the living room. Ranma's mother had taken to carrying her granddaughter with her everywhere. To her relief it seemed like the goddess in training had gone out with Skuld and the Nabiki girl, for they were nowhere to be found.
How could such a simple mission go so badly? One minute she's bored out of her wits, the next she's staring at a huge hole in the middle of Tokyo, death everywhere.
... And the battle aura Ranma exuded when he saw Kodachi's body... She really hoped, for Midgard's sake, that the human survived the ordeal.

"I'm sorry... I... can't do anything more..." Belldandy tiredly said as she stared down at the dying woman, finally realizing what the problem was.
"What?!" Ranma asked incredulously.
"What do you mean you can't do anything more?" Mara demanded. "You're a first class goddess!" Not that she cared what happened to Kodachi... But who would keep Ranma in check now?!!
... Well maybe she did come to like having Kodachi around, what demon in his or her right mind wouldn't?
Belldandy sighed deeply, unaffected by Ranma's murderous glare. Urd started to inch closer, ready to protect her sister from the pigtailed demon should the need arise. They were at the shrine, after all.
"It's just... Kodachi's soul has already left her body," Belldandy explained. She continued speaking, silencing Ranma's threats. "The only reason why the body is still alive, even if barely... is because of her unborn child."
Just as the news started to sink in steps could be heard entering the room through the demolished doors.
