While he'd been unconscious, his blood had been repeatedly tested. Samples taken. Tissue checked. Curiosities had been going since his arrival and questions asked.
As far as anyone around him knew, and he hadn't any reason to learn the details much less correct them, he had been aboard a ship with a pilot named Mihoshi. Mihoshi had entered at too steep an angle, probably on the other side of the planet, and the ship had broken up. Ranma had ejected at some point, his survival pod had been destroyed - and he had survived not only the fall but a massive plasma discharge because of his fall through the charged clouds that surrounded Terratoo.
A human surviving that sort of thing was miraculous. How had he done such a thing?
The results of those tests were hard to believe, though if they had known it was a result of Mihoshi making sure Ranma would survive his arrival they would have been even more skeptical.
Ranma Saotome had a genetic makeup that was beyond puzzling. Doctor Lorelei spent many hours going over the results until finally she could float a "theory" that might have been completely wrong but at least fit what facts she had.
The colony ship that had arrived at Terratoo, the Mesopotamia, had used cryogenetic storage for most of the trip. The vast majority of the scientists and experts had never awoken as the computer had gone nuts. The away team had gone through several generations since the foundation of Terratoo, using their mongrel cloning.
The result was that whatever had happened on Earth since then, a little over three hundred years had passed. Technology had to have developed in the interim. Ranma, for all his amnesia, had to have been the product of genetic engineering and improvements since then. His apparent lack of expected super-intelligence could have been damage from his arrival.
Just the healing factor he'd displayed was truly awe-inspiring.
That a genetic engineer, well meaning if unauthorized, made a mongrel clone using DNA from Ranma and DNA from Lorelei was not a big deal. To the genetic engineer at least.
Ranma himself had other concerns, such as when his marionette arrived. It turned out to be:
