Meanwhile, in Heaven, the news of Peorth's engagement to a mortal boy who was hero-material (a rarity in this day and age) had made the rounds. Reactions were mixed. First Belldandy, one of Kami-sama's favorite daughters, gets tied to a human man and now miss 'High-and-Mighty' Peorth, who had exclusively lived for her work until now, voluntarily does the same thing. It made people wonder...
Some goddesses were considering checking more thoroughly the male clients of the Goddess Relief Office for potential love interests. If Belldandy and Peorth found worthy mates, why not them ?
The male gods, many of them having been spurned in one way or another by the Rose Queen and the Norn of the Present, were outraged and protested against this obvious attack against the purity of the divine bloodlines. They were alarmed at the rumors saying that this Ranma Saotome was considered a likely candidate for ascension. The young upstart obviously needed to be taught a lesson ! Volunteers for this were lacking in numbers however, the boy had killed Saffron after all...
It was well known that Peorth and Belldandy were rivals (even if only Peorth saw it that way). In her drive for excellence and her need to outperform the Norn middle sister, the fourth goddess had crossed a few people and a goddess in particular had held a nasty grudge against her.
"WHAT !?" Ishtar, goddess first class, limited of Love and War, persian division had stood up in indignation at her post in the Yggdrasil mainframe "PEORTH'S GETTING MARRIED !?! TO A MORTAL !!?"
"Yeah, she was assigned to stop a genie wish from getting out of hand. She did the job and got the boy out of it. It was a sleeping prince deal and since we're all technically princesses..." Eris loved to spread gossip, especially if it generated some chaos "I heard he's a real looker too and Father is approving the whole thing. He must be quite the catch if she..."
*WHOOSH !*
Eris blinked. Ishtar was already gone. The greek goddess of discord chuckled "Hehehe... If there isn't a few obstacles, those love stories get awfully dull. I have a feeling that it will be much more fun watching this than Belldandy's sappy romance"

At the deepest layer of Hell, Hild was looking at Ranma Saotome's file. She frowned, this marriage was a threat to the balance of the conflict between Good and Evil in her opinion. Not to mention the fact he was now cured of his curses, making him less vulnerable to common demon tactics.
Chaos was a power not to be triffled with. Until now, it had stayed neutral and favored neither side. If Ranma Saotome ascended and took Chaos as his portfolio however... Chaos made the impossible and the really improbable happen, such an advantage would make it possible for Heaven to win Ragnarok ! She had to do something about it...
Mara was already on Earth but her assignment to watch the Norns and counter their actions took all her time. Someone else had to be sent on Midgard to sabotage the relationship between that chaos nexus and the rose goddess. If she had known in advance of what would happen, she would have never agreed to help that girl regain her adult form !
She smiled nastily. The fiancee mess had been cleared for the most part but it would be easy to revive the flame by subtly reviving the still-burning embers. Ranma was still a sixteen years old teenager, vulnerable to... certain arguments. She knew the perfect person for the job "Lillith !"
"You summoned me, your majesty ?" A drop-dead gorgeous woman whose body and attire screamed 'Hot Babe' appeared in a power circle beneath Hild's throne. She had long and lustrous deep blue hair, ruby-red eyes, small fangs and three demonic marks adorning her face. Her black spiked leather covered next to nothing, she was the perfect picture of a succubus. And Lillith was the best succubus of Niffleheim.
"Yes, I have a new assignment for you. this human..." A folder materialized in Lillith's hands "is about to marry the goddess Peorth. I want you to make sure this marriage never takes place. And if you could corrupt him to our side... that would be even better"
"Ooooh, he looks so yummy... Don't worry, Hild-sama, after having a taste of me, that boy is sure to dump that prissy flower-girl and become my... your slave !" She disappeared in a loud puff of brimstone, eager to start this mission right away. Hild sweatdropped "My... Eager, isn't she ? It promises to be interesting to say the least, OHOHOHOHOHOHOHO !!!"
Demons around Hild's throne room cringed at the sound of their mistress' laugh and pitied the poor soul who caught her interest.
