Perhaps she was still in process of shaking off the warping of her worst natures. Perhaps the magic had blocked memory of what she was capable of. Or perhaps she was just in the extreme end of denial, like how one would start sweating like crazy just before a fever finally breaks.
Whatever the reason, Akane fell in to old habits.
"How can you sit there and just let him act this wat?!" Akane demanded. "Dad, Kasumi? Nabiki I can understand what with his 'dowry' but..." She stopped as she noticed the expressions around her.
Kasumi was looking distinctly embarrassed and looking away from Akane, trying to ignore her. Soun was doing likewise...except he was also crying a river and ranting about his daughter. Urd and Skuld looked somewhat irritated and annoyed. Belldandy was shaking her head and sighed pityingly. Keiichi was keeping silent and out of the situation, but could virtually feel the broach of etiquette.
Three people, however, were outright glaring at Akane.
"Listen, Akane," Ranma said in a voice he usually reserved for a serious rival. "You wished to have me killed, got me put into a coma, turned Nerima into hell on Earth, pretty much enslaved everybody we consider friends not to mention a whole bunch of other people that just had the misfortune of living here. And this all started because I GAVE you a wish!"
"Well you should have explained it all better," Akane said. "It wasn't my fault that you didn't say what was going on. And I wasn't exactly acting like I NORMALLY do."
"He DID explain it, Akane," Nabiki said. "He spent FIVE minutes explaining it. We ALL heard him explaining it before you wished he was dead."
Akane opened her mouth.
"This WHOLE thing is YOUR fault," Nabiki said. "The Saotome-Tendo agreement is null and void before the KAMI because you didn't pay attention to what was going on. In one single sentence you made yourself a bigger idiot than Genma Saotome."
"Excuse me," Genma said, not quite understanding that.
"Mostly because," and Nabiki stood up before leaning right into Akane's face. "YOU actually have the brains to know better! If you weren't so paranoid about Ranma you'd have been MARRIED to him before all this happened and probably living happily ever after. But NO...you have to be a spoiled little brat with no concept family duty OR EVEN personal welfare, and instantly mistrust anything Ranma says...and thus turn your family into a bunch of talking appliances without free will!!!"
Nabiki caught her breath, huffing and looked around at all the surprised looks directed her way.
"Being a piggy bank for a few days does things to you," she said.
"Hey, I wasn't the only one causing problems you know," Akane said, recovering slightly from Nabiki's tirade.
"Yeah," Ranma agreed. "But neither me, nor Nabiki, nor Ukyou, nor Kodachi, nor anybody else turned everybody in a whole district into their personal slaves."
Akane swallowed.
"The short version, girl," Peorth said. "You. Blew. It. And now he's mine..." her voice turned dreamy at the end of the sentence and she draped herself contentedly around a slightly blushing Ranma.
Akane opened and closed her mouth for several seconds...then stood up and ran upstairs where they could all hear her slamming her door closed.
"That last bit was a little cruel, Peorth," Belldandy admonished.
"I don't care," Peorth said. "She needs to be treated a little harshly. It'll make her less of a spoiled brat."
