As Nabiki told her over the phone about the news she and her sisters received from their father,her thoughts couldn't help but drift back to that one time.It was the moment when Ranma and his,at that time, soon-to-be wife had first met each other.
In her opinion, it was an odd but unique case of love at first sight.
Or,as the situation had been set-up,love at first fight!
Ranma had been competing in martial arts tournament being held at an arena in Tokyo, which wasn't too far from where their neighbourhood.Both she,Akane and Kasumi(who they had managed to,by some miracle,convince her to take a break from her household duties to come) had gone down to support him.
Suffice to say,as good he was,the competition had actually managed to give him a run for his money.But he had prevailed and made it to the Finals of the tourney,where his opponent would be none other than the woman who'd steal his heart,and hers in return.
The match which followed had wowed Nabiki and her sisters,as well as the spectators and some of the tournament's participants in attendance in awe of the action displayed before them.
Back and forth,punches and kicks were thrown,blows parried and countered,each fighter gave as good as they had gotten from their opponents,trading blow after blow.
It had been display which shifted from being brutal as connected hits caused impact,to as graceful as a dance when many attacks were dodged with the grace and swiftness akin to certain wild animals,like jungle cats or birds of prey.
But in the end,while it was an even fight,it had to finish with one winner.
Ranma had been the victor,but in his thoughts,it was the fight that had mattered more,while Nabiki,her sisters,the audience and the other fighters all felt that both were winners in their books,and the standing ovation they had received was testament to those feelings. Especially when Ranma had shown the coutesy of helping his opponent back to her feet after she had knocked down for the count,and she returned the respect and favour by raising his arm in victory.
Afterwards,they had gotten to know one another a bit more after their fight,and this had the been the first step in the relationship that would follow between Ranma and:
