"She's out? Then can you have her call me back as soon as possible? There's something I really need to discuss with her. She already has my number so she'll know what you mean when you tell her that I called. Thanks!" Nabiki hung up the phone and exhaled softly. Looks like she'll have to wait for a while before she could speak with Ranma's wife about what happened.
The middle Tendo sister had been hoping to get the talk over with so that any future misunderstandings are avoided. The last thing they wanted was their father to head out to a bar and brag about the marriage while getting drunk off his ass. This would translate to Mrs. Ranma Saotome's ears as "one of the Tendos is trying to seduce Ranma" or something like that. And Nabiki had seen first hand how fierce the wife could be when it comes to Ranma.
The Ryoga encounter had been good evidence of that fierceness. Her punishment for Ryoga was in the form of one of those big ass combos that you only saw in fighting game combo videos. Her movements were filled with power and executed gracefully, one move linking into another to deal considerable damage to the opponent. After seeing that display of combat prowess, Akane and Nabiki made a mental vow to avoid pissing off the wife and being on the receiving end of a devastating combo.
To be honest, nobody had suspected that she knew how to fight. But Ranma had been able to pick up how she moved normally and figured out that she too had some talent in the Art. That was one of the things that drew him to her. And it was thanks to her that he got over the idea that women aren't good at the Art.
The telephone rang, snapping Nabiki out of her thoughts. The middle Tendo sister picked up the receiver and held it to her ear. "Hello?"
"Nabiki? It's me. I got your message from my friend." It was the voice of Ranma's wife.
"There's something I gotta tell you but let me just say that this only happened because of my dad. Here's what he told us." And so Nabiki Tendo told the story about the arranged marriage to...
