Ranma's New Life/Summoning Horse: Eenie Meenie Miney... wait, what are my options? [Episode 148233]

by The Willful Wanderer

In terms of magic, there are many ways to look at things. Magic can be divided by styles, by elements, by methods, by types of spell effects, and so on and so forth. Usually, there is a sort of 'round robin' effect, wherein one is stronger than another is stronger than another and so on until another is stronger than the first one.

This is a basis of the pokemon idea. It held strong in this world as it did in any other of the pokemon/pokegirl/pokeboy/pokegenie/pokewhateverthehell universes. Thus, there was a sort of reason to the set of starting pokegirls Ash could chose from.

"Since it's first come, first serve, Ash," Oak continued, stepping over to a specially prepared mini-podium, "You'll get the freest choice of what sort of pokegirl you want to start off with summoning."

Standing by the podium, waving the short and unusually swift (as far as anyone else around was concerned) boy forwards to stand with him, Oak pressed his thumb to an even stone panel. "If you watched the informative short-range broadcast last night, Ash, you'll be aware that-"

"I know, I know," Ash- or maybe Ranma, given the impatience. For anyone but Ranma... Ash? Mmm, confusion. Anyways, for anyone else to say, it would be Ash. Ash, on the... er... Ranma, on the other...

Let's settle for calling the entity Ash for now.

Ash, on the other hand, was doing what he did best- winging it. Even if he wasn't sure, exactly, of who he was at the moment, he could feel some things in his head falling into place around each other, and figured he might as well just wait, and hopefully the whole mess in his skull would sort itself out. If something started conflicting, he'd deal with it then.

At any rate... Ash interrupted, having rather thoroughly paid attention (Making it all the more surprising that he'd arrived early, given how late the program had run.) "Each different one has its own strengths and weaknesses. The different starters stand for..."
