Text-Based Yu-Gi-Oh Duellist Academy: Wait... Ranma's Not In This Thread? My GOD!!! [Episode 148973]

by Mister-E

I think I’ll play as Tenchi Masaki. He’s a tad underused I hear.

Got ya. Character Files Updated. Game Saving, do not turn off the power.

...

Game Saved.

You are Tenchi Masaki, and you have been duelling since your mother died. Your grandfather is amused by the game, and is a mild fan of the game’s strategy, however he doesn’t play. The usual events in the Tenchi Muyo OAVs happen, Ryoko’s realese, Ayeka’s arrival, and so forth. Eventually you decide to go off to college, and take a break from Ryoko’s and Ayeka’s bickering and your father’s perverted ways. Knowing you you’ll follow those ways.

Whatever.

Hearing about the Duellist Academy you sign up, leaving brochures of colleges and universities overseas before heading out there. Bait and switch you see.

The current deck you run is a Warrior/Spellcaster Deck with a number of Level Series Monsters. This Duellist Academy is not the same as in Yu-Gi-Oh GX. Seto Kaiba is still it’s creator and has the final say on everything in the school. The Head Master is Auron of Final Fantasy X... Strange...

Who cares. Keep going.

Right. Auron will usually be the one with the final say, since Kaiba will be busy with his company but whenever he’s in town he’s the man in charge. Teachers are mostly crossover characters, Misato and Gendo from NGE, Miss Hinako from Ranma ½, Setsuna from Sailor Moon and so on. Tifa Lockheart of Final Fantasy VII fame is also a teacher, Phys Ed.

I wouldn’t mind being physical with her...

Yeah, Yeah, pervert...

Anyway, you’re a block from the Academy, located on the outskirts of Domino City. A game shop (Not the one Yugi’s Grandfather owns) is across the street and you have an hour until you have to arrive for your test and duel.

Duel?

Yeah, you’ll need to duel an examiner after you take a written exam. The examiner might be a high-ranking student or one of the teachers. Depending on your scores and how well you duel you may be sent home (Failure), be put in the Slifer Red Dorm (Lowest Level in the school), Ra Yellow (Middle Level), or Obelisk Blue (Highest Level). Which dorm you end up will affect what teachers and classes you have and what students you’ll likely interact with. Chances are, since you are a first year student, the best you’ll manage will be Ra Yellow although Slifer Red is more likely.

That’s fine, as long as there are a lot of chick to swoon.

Just remember, Pervy, you’ll be in a school that might not allow such funny business.

Whatever. Inventory?

INVENTORY

Clothing
Almost Mad Sword Skillz
Half Decent Hand to Hand Skillz
Duel Disk (with Duelling Deck inserted)
Card Generator Limited
Card Trunk (currently empty)
Wallet with Yen and ID
1000 DP

Card Generator Limited? DP?

Due to Generator Abuse the Card Generator Limited was created. Simply put using it will cost 1000 DP. Also you must have collected 80% of the cards in a certain Booster Pack to pull a card from that pack. This is to keep people from snagging several powerful cards, although your deck is already pretty good. It also encourages buying Booster Packs. Booster Packs can be bought in Card Shops in Domino and a shop at the Academy with DP, however you cannot use Yen to buy them. It’s an arrangement Kaiba made with the Card Shops. DP is won by duelling, the higher ranked your opponent is the more DP you gain. If you tie with your opponent or, god forbid, lose you won’t lose any DP. You will gain DP equal to the amount of turns the Duel lasted, but since a Booster costs 150 DP and you can win up to over 70 DP against a usual opponent you really should win.

Win and get DP, got ya.

Right. It’s also used as currency in the Academy. You also get a DP ‘Allowance’ each day, depending on your Experience Level. Anyway, what will you do?

Hmm... Well...
