AT Pokegirls: Le Bateleur [Episode 149118]

by Kestral

Where did new pokegirls come from?

It was one of many questions that puzzled those of the colony world, and Professor Oak was just as interested in that as any of the other myriad questions that cropped up regarding pokegirls.

From what little he and the others knew of the original alien species native to this world - they hadn't been humanoid. Their senses had been different too - many of their signs were created by materials imbedded within other materials that were invisible to human eyes in the normally perceived wavelengths. It had taken long years before any of the scientists had tried scanning one of the walls of an alien ruin and found the slightly magnetic dense material inside the wall itself. At first it was thought that these were something like electronics until it was worked out what the pattern would actually look like if you could see it. At which point alien script popped up on a seemingly featureless wall.

Now that they knew you could scan with radar, or in the infrared since the script seemed to absorb heat from the surrounding material, they had found a bloody lot of the script. Unfortunately no one had any idea what the script was saying. As near as anyone could figure it was ideographic - with potentially millions of the symbols and no Rosetta Stone to provide the key to deciphering the language. Especially with some of the lettering changing from time to time.

It was frustrating to say the least. The sign found on the outside of a city might simply be a welcome to visitors, warning of a plague, the time and weather, or an ad for scale-cream. They had absolutely no way of knowing.

Then there were the Legendary class pokegirls. Rarely seen except in blurry photographs from the few working cameras. Pokegirls of apparently extraordinary power that may have come to exist prior to human habitation. They also had a look that was distinctly inhuman, as if the process that produced them wasn't quite sure what a human looked like.

The pokegirls themselves came in several common varieties. Hikaru Gosunkugi had a Kunoichi, which was Plant/Poison. His nephew Gary had a Vulpixie - a not uncommon sort with pyrokinetic abilities, as well as a high tissue density that made them good brawlers. There were more common types like Mermaids, Tomboys, Sylphs, Peekabu, Oyuki, and so on. There were the occasional Elfgirl, Succubus, or other fairly powerful and rarer pokegirls. Still, it hadn't been that long that humans had been on this planet, so perhaps there being new types cropping up all the time wasn't that unexpected.

Professor Oak put aside his tea and his pondering as a display bleeped. It appeared that Ash was scanning with his pokedex again. Interesting...

Ash's head whipped back and forth in momentary indecision. It was sudden and unexpected and he was aware that the time he had to decide what to do was rapidly vanishing. "Misty! Waterspout! Oriad! Subdue. Waitaminute, I mean..."

The wild pokegirl had shifted towards an attack stance and leapt just before the hydrokinetically shaped plume of water slammed into her with the sort of force a firehose could generate. "GLUB?!"

The tamer had a moment to look startled before the Oriad, operating on instinct and blind panic, introduced her fist to the tamer's jaw. WHAM!

"Oh heck," said Ash. "Misty, switch to Fire Punch!"

"Urrr?!" said Misty, wondering how you did that as the wild pokegirl threw off the water attack and resumed her charge.

Ash saw how easily the other pokegirl had thrown off the water attack and realized this was a type that was resistant to water attacks. Unfortunately, he was still trying to teach Misty basic things and hadn't gotten around to anything like major attacks yet. "Oriad! Please help Misty!"

Oriad complied, seeing as how Misty was currently being grappled by the wild pokegirl. In such situations, survival took priority over being true to Master Brock. She could protest things later.

A punch to the back of the skull took the fight out of the wild pokegirl.

Misty lay there panting as Ash and Oriad dragged the other pokegirl off her. When done, Ash used his pokedex to discover that this particular wild pokegirl was:
