Stepping through the gate, Akane found herself in a dim, dusty alley. Looking around she noted that a few feet behind her it ended in a cul-de-sac, in front of her she could see glimpses of movement at the mouth of the alley, no doors and only a handful of windows graced the walls around her.
Hesitant and uncertain, Akane hauled out her data-cube again and ran the background briefing. Scratch's voice came through as images formed on the display:
"Akane, you will appear on the frontier planet 'Qat Chrystac', you have been issued with a Bounty Hunters license from Corellia (in the name of 'Hammer Tendo'), a suit of battered but functional ex-clone battle armour, a standard 3-setting (stun, kill, blow-to-bits) blaster, 150 Imperial Credits and 6 wanted notices - of which at least 2 apply to people on Qat Chrystac."
The images on the datacube flickered for a moment, then Scratches voice resumed with details Akane hadn't heard before:
"Unfortunately, making your new body used up 95% of the budget for this mission, so you have no background identity or implanted skills to work with and we have been unable to arrange any sort of independant transport for you, or any other sort of back up. It is strongly recommended that you avoid making anyone with intelligence links curious about your background - the resulting check will almost certainly make matters worse for you. You should also acquire your own ship or something equivalent, as soon as possible, you'll need the mobility. Finally, you've been placed in the universe about 9-12 months before the battle of Yavin, so the Empire is currently at the height of it's power. And as of now, you're on your own. Scratch out. This datacube will now self-destruct."
Akane blinked at Scratches last words. Self Destruct? Then she yelped and dropped the datacube as is blazed up in a burst of fire that reduced it to a melted pile of metal and plastic. Staring at the remains, Akane shook her head. Fine she was on her own.
