Actually, why don't you pick a random character for me? As long as he kicks ass, has good looks, is old enough to shag ladies and is an overall awesome guy with a kickass dueling deck!
Alright. But don't come crying to me if your character is not what you expected.
Loading... done.
You are a sixteen year old Negi Springfield, the son of the infamous Nagi Springfield. Nagi Springfield was known for his card combo knowledge and was given the nickname of "The Thousand Master" because of that. He had a strong lust for adventure and exploration and so he left you, at the age of ten, in the care of a good friend who was the dean of an all-girls high school. Your politeness won you many female friends (and potential love interests although they are all a few years older than you are) and you grew up in a healthy environment with a good education. Your active participation in the Chinese Martial Arts club headed by Fei Ku for six years unleashed your talent for hand to hand combat while training under Setsuna Sakurazaki in the Kendo club gave you a knack for martial arts with weapons (swords, staffs, naginata, etc.).
Sweet.
Your interest in Duel Monsters came when you were eleven and you participated in the Battle City tournament at the age of thirteen. Although you eventually got six locator cards (a loss to Mai Valentine slowed you down), you were a bit too late as Yugi and his group got to the secret location earlier than you. With a renewed determination after the end of the tournament, you focused on rebuilding your deck. Now you feel that your Spellcaster/Warrior deck is at the top of its game. By the way, the banned/restricted card list in this program is fairly straight forward and works like the Game Boy Advance Yu-Gi-Oh games. Basically powerful magic and trap cards (Pot of Greed, Mirror Force, etc.) get restricted to one per deck with the exception of Raigeki, Yata-Garasu and direct damage magic cards. Those are banned.
Huh? But what about when Noah played Yata-Garasu and Joey played Raigeki in the TV show? And then there's the time I played Final Flame in the other program?
The Yata was in the virtual world adventure with its own rules of dueling and its own banned/restricted list. And remember that Joey had a bunch of illegal fake cards from Marik when he duelled Yugi. As for you using Final Flame, the game program had a different banned/restricted list.
Makes sense.
As your friends graduated and moved on, you were uncertain of where you wanted to be. Then you found out about Duelist Academy and decided to give it a try. And if you do come out of that Academy with a stronger reputation in the duelling world overall, you may be able to find your father.
So my overall goal is... what again?
Just to get through Duelist Academy with good grades and stuff but there are also plenty of opportunities to try and get some sexual action. And then there will be the story concepts that I mentioned earlier with the Legendary Demon cards, Orihalcos and maybe KC Grand Prix. Basically, you're going to take over Yugi's mantle as... the Duelist of Righteousness!!!
Uh... yeah.
INVENTORY
Clothing
Superb Martial Arts Skills (both hand to hand and weapons)
Duel Disk (with Dueling Deck inserted)
Card Generator
Card Trunk (currently empty)
Reading/Dueling Glasses
1000 DP in trouser left pocket
DP? Dueling glasses? And only Superb Martial Arts Skills?
Your vision is okay without your glasses but with the glasses, you can see things a bit more clearly and that can make quite a difference in your duel. You only trained for six years so Superb Martial Arts Skills is as high as you can get. And the DP ties in with the Card Generator.
How so?
The concept is taken from the Yu-Gi-Oh World Championship 2005 game for Game Boy Advance. As you win duels, you get a certain amount of Duelist Points or DP. The amount depends on how you defeated the opponent, the number of turns, the monsters destroyed and the total damage done. With the Generator, every time you want a new card, you have to pay 1000 DP first before putting in the password for the card that you want.
Damn!
DP works as the currency here (in a sense). So if you want to buy more booster packs and boxes from card shops (like the shop run by Yugi's grandfather), you'll need to cough up DP.
And I only have 1000 DP? That's gay. Now that I'm caught up, what now?
You are currently walking through a park to make your way to the duelist arena for your Duel Exam. You have done well on the written test so you're in good shape for the moment. As you walk through the park, you hear the delighted squeals of several young ladies on your left. They seem to be gathered around an area.
When's my Duel Exam?
In about an hour so you have time to check out what's going on.
Then let's see what the fuss is about.
As the area comes into view, you see that the girls are surrounding Yugi Motou and his grandfather. Solomon is obviously taking this time to promote his game store while Yugi tried to avoid getting glomped. The Yugi Motou that you're seeing does not have the Millennium Puzzle and looks like his Yami counterpart except without the lightning bolts in his hair. You can say that Yugi got his growth spurt a while back. "Grandpa! This isn't what I had in mind for the weekend!" protested the young man.
"Well, you did ask me if I needed help in the shop since you wanted to get some breathing room from Tea and Rebecca. I honestly don't see why you're playing so hard to get. Why, when I was your age..." Yugi gave a huge groan as his grandfather went on.
Might as well do my good deed for the day. Make my way through and shout: "Yugi!! It's been ages, man! How's it going?"
Yugi blinked in surprise. "Do I know you?"
Raise eyebrows in a small hinting motion and say: "It's me, your old elementary school buddy, Negi! Man, we need to go catch up on what's been happening! I heard that you've been busy as a bee as a new dueling prodigy!"
He caught on and gave a friendly smile. "Sorry! I didn't recognize you for a moment! Grandpa, I'm going to go get reacquainted with an old friend. Ladies, I'll be back as soon as I can." Yugi flashed them a killer smile, causing them to collapse like jelly.
Let's go to another area in the park that's a lot more peaceful.
You and Yugi walk up north for about five minutes before he stopped. "Thanks for the save. It was quite hectic back there."
Stop and say: "Don't mention it. But shouldn't you be used to it? I mean, you are a big Duel Monsters champion."
Yugi crossed his arms. "The adoration wasn't this extreme. At first, it was just players who wanted an autograph from me and stuff. But when I hit my growth spurt, the ladies started looking at me with that hungry look. It's a bit disturbing. That reminds me!" He took a booster pack and a business card out from his jacket and hands it out to you.
Say: "You don't have to give me a pack or anything!"
"It's the least I can do. Besides, the original idea for Grandpa's marketing scheme was to give away one free booster pack per duelist at the park until the supply ran out. If you ever need more cards, drop by the shop."
Say: "It would be rude of me to decline your offer. Thanks." Take business card and booster pack.
[You have added booster pack (with 10 cards) and business card to your inventory.]
"There you are, Yugi darling!" Yugi glanced over his shoulder to see Rebecca Hawkins running up to him.
"And that's my cue to scram!" The young man bolted as fast as he could with Rebecca hot on his tail.
"Dammit, darling! Get back here! We were meant to be!" May I add that this bears a frightening resemblance to the Mai Shiranui/Andy Bogard relationship in a sense.
Um... okay.
