She was fairly typical though in one respect. She had no Maiden Circuit and was of high-end but normal (non-Sabre) construction. She didn't have an emotional range, much less display one.
"This is 'Taurus'," said the factory rep, Mister Watanabe.
"Why does she look like Akane?" asked Ranma.
"I have no idea," said Watanabe. "Is Akane someone from Earth?"
"Yeah," said Ranma, looking over the girl. It WAS Akane, almost eerily so. Wearing a fairly plain kimono, tabi, geta style shoes, obi. Her hair was free, not pinned up. There was a seam area running around the neck, but the resemblence was uncanny if you got past the dull-looking eyes.
"She's got a full line of domestic programming," said Watanabe. "Cooking, cleaning, basic accounting, small engine repair, sewing. She even has the special 'ear tickle with leg pillow' equipment."
"Ah, thanks, I guess," said Ranma, completely off balance with this development. "Doesn't she, ya know, smile or nothing?"
"If you tell her to smile, she will," said Watanabe. "Now I'll just make an appointment for a followup in two weeks to check her out to see how well she's been broken in and repair any problems at that juncture."
Ranma moved around the marionette, watching how the eyes automatically followed him. This was actually kind of creepy. "So, uhm, 'Taurus' - how ya doing?"
"All functions within normal parameters," responded Taurus.
"Yeah. Look, I'm gonna change your name, cause 'Taurus' just don't sound right with ya looking like you do. From now on, your name is Akane," said Ranma.
"Accepting name change," responded Akane. "Taurus is now Akane."
