His rage froze then. If her own sisters didn't bother to deny this obvious fallacy, then... then could it be that she really was...?
He shook himself free of the stupor and wandered off, deep in thought.
If Akane was a lesbian, then that meant.... that it wasn't Ranma stringing her along with no intentions of committing... but the reverse, Akane stringing a naive, clueless Ranma along to cover her secret attraction to her own gender! That meant, contrary to all evidence, that Ranma wasn't the one at fault this time... Akane was!
Neurons started firing as a new connection was made in his brain.
And what of her family? If her sisters had known about... wait, how long had her family known? And if Soun and Genma were such good friends, then surely they exchanged a postcard now and again.... In that case, if they were truly set on uniting their arts through marriage, then.... had Jusenkyo been planned ahead of time? Had Genma cursed his own son to turn into a girl, just so that he would catch the interest of his deviant of a daughter?
And even more than that... Ranma had fed him some cock and bull story once, about how he'd tried to wait the fourth day in the lot, but his father had dragged him off. Ryouga had dismissed the idea at the time, but now he was reconsidering it. And at that time, Ranma had been a lot smaller and weaker than he was now, and Genma hadn't declined quite so much.
His overactive imagination pieced all the dots together. Ranma's training trip had been on a schedule, ending inevitably with Ranma being cursed to turn into a girl. Genma had dragged Ranma away from their fight because they were lagging behind in that schedule, only incidentally forcing Ryouga to follow them to China. He did that because he needed his son to have at least one form that Akane would find attractive. It all made sense now.
"Kami, it all makes sense now!" He cried, standing up swiftly. "Ranma was never at fault at all... it was always another, right from the very beginning! AKANE TENDO! PREPARE TO DIE!"

Akane had frozen in the action of pouring a cup of tea, allowing the liquid to spill over the sides of the cup and off the table.
Ranma blinked as he nibbled on a fish cake.
"Wow, Akane. It looks like all of my problems are latching on you now. You're gonna need some serious training to survive Ryouga though. So... you want me, Shampoo, or the old ghoul to teach you?"
