That said, like Kuno, a lot of people had the wrong idea about what the 'special one' meant. Those transformed by the virus tended to feel openly affectionate towards their 'special one' but others seemed at least mildly antagonistic. Ryoga wished, not for the first time, that life came with an owner's manual.
The ladle woman splashed him just as he was approaching Ranma to rub his rival's face in the current situation.
Now that he was P-chan, he just had to settle for wandering the neighborhood and observing the newly shifted female forms abounding around him.
Ranma was shaking, but not from anger. Merely reaction.
He had heard, just as half the schoolyard had heard. Akane, like most of the gals transformed, had a 'special one' for her. It was not him.
"WHY?! AKANE YOU IDIOT!"
Roaring that at the heavens didn't seem likely to provide an answer but it did make him feel a bit better.
"Trust," came a soft answer.
"Huh?" asked Ranma, whirling and leaping as someone had come up behind him without his knowing about it.
Miyo stood there, regarding him with all three eyes.
"What was that?" asked Ranma, trying to get used to seeing a gal with three eyes.
"The 'special one' involves trust, a desire not to hurt someone, or respect, which is going to produce a lot of problems in areas like Italy and Russia where relationships typically involve throwing household appliances at each other," said Miyo. "Your father taught you to equate affection with insults, beatings, and at least some hostility. Hence your current problem."
"So it's oyaji's fault?" asked Ranma, hopefully. His father he could beat on.
"Yes, though you could have overcome this tendency," began Miyo, who shut her mouth when Ranma started running home. Ah well, she'd tried. Alas, there were a lot of women who didn't have that trust or respect for any particular figure and therefore they just felt the desire to find someone. A pity, as for all her enhanced psychic talents - she thought it quite likely a lot of transformees were just going to have to do without.
She looked down at the little listening pig. "You do know that as a dog-girl, Akane's likely to have an exceptional sense of smell, right?"
P-chan had listened, and knew a moment of blind panic.
What would happen if she learned that P-chan was Ryoga Hibiki, her 'special one'? He might end up pork cutlets. He had to find a cure now - and FAST!
