Twisting about, Usagi looked over from where she was and frowned in concern at her friend. "Are you okay, Ami-chan?"
"I... uh... That is... I was just a little surprised. Nothing's really wrong."
"Oh.... Are you sure? I don't mind helping you...."
"It's fine, Usagi-chan."
The blonde girl nodded in acceptance, if not in understanding, and turned back around.
"I don't see why you fell, though," Rei commented as she watched the other Senshi get back onto her seat.
"Rei-chan, you just asked to have my brother," the cram school student replied in a strained whisper. "Coming from Mako-chan, or Mina-chan, that'd be a surprise, but you?"
"I can be interested in boys too."
"Ah, sorry. I never meant to say that you couldn't. It's just that, well...."
"What?"
"You've never been one to really search for any guys before. Look, yes, but you've always had more control than a lot of girls."
That made the shrine priestess chuckle a bit. "I guess that I have. It's just that I know that they can be problems when you need them to be steady."
"There's Mamoru."
"But he won't be mine. Then there's my grandfather, who needs to be watched a lot of the time."
"Your father's an important man."
"Not to me, and I don't want to talk about him."
"I see."
"Sorry, Ami-chan," Rei sighed, managing a weak smile before looking down at her lap. "It's just that I don't even like to think about him and that damned work of his."
"I don't understand though. If you're cautious about men, then why want my brother for whatever it is that you want him for."
"Because he's not like them, or the jerks that we can see on the street. He's athletic, friendly, and loyal, all of which is better than some intellectual who gets wrapped up in their work. No offense, Ami."
"None taken."
"Still, he's may be a bit headstrong, but that's good. He can think for himself, cares about others, and will put aside even important things for people. That says a lot about him."
"Sounds like you've really been thinking about this," the blue haired girl observed.
"Of course I have. I've been having plenty of time since I woke up and found out what we'd done. I... I always thought that he was cute, but he's also really honorable. When we were drunk, or sleeping, he could have taken advantage of us, or just left us to whatever might happen. Instead, he took us to safety, and made sure that we were being protected. He even cared for us himself. And he hasn't even complained when Sif kept on tossing him around."
Sighing in the way that a bemused sister could do about her beloved brother, Ami nodded. "Probably thinks that it's just a challenge to overcome."
"That's exactly it. Other guys would give up, complain, or make excuses. He just keeps on at it, trying his best until he manages it. And he doesn't even care that he's getting beaten in front of his sister and her friends."
"I wouldn't say that, since he's never liked it. But he usually tries to make sure that I can see him get over the hurdle."
"Which means that he cares, and will show it."
"Makoto and Minako care too."
Rei pressed her lips together and looked over to where the girls in question were standing. "If Mako-chan's seeing her old boyfriend when she looks at him, I'd be surprised. They share a lot in common, though there are a lot of tall, strong and handsome guys who'd appreciate her here. As for Minako, after what I heard...."
"What?"
"She'll probably make him fall for her... literally. That girl thinks that he's a good guy, and wouldn't mind showing how much she likes him."
"Oh dear," Ami groaned, rubbing her temple as she considered what the blonde with the bow in her hair was capable of doing.
"Exactly."
"What about you? Planning on going after him?"
"Well, I thought that it might be nicer to talk to you."
"Pardon?"
"You're his sister, and maybe... it might be good to go slow with him."
"Ah. Then you do really want him."
"I want a stable guy in my life who I can count on, and believe in."
Saying nothing, Ami merely took the measure of her raven haired friend, while:
