Urd groaned as her new assistant, a green-haired demoness named Setsuna, placed yet another stack of papers on the table. "What are they doing?" The goddess asked in disbelief, as Setsuna's briefcase seemed to have no limit to the amount of paperwork it could carry.
The green-haired demoness smiled pleasantly at the goddess. "According to the last report Mara finally caught up with him," she informed, giving Urd some hope that she wasn't going to be crucified for this. So far Ranma had, in his rage, killed several innocents unknowingly as he blew things up at random. Or at least seemingly at random.
Urd sighed and turned to her side, to see Belldandy asleep on the couch and Skuld nowhere in the room, the little goddess having been called an hour ago for some emergency debugging. Obviously Ranma caused the problem. She returned her gaze to the demoness sitting elegantly across the table from her, who was taking everything with a calm that unnerved her. Ever since Mara left the room it became apparent that Setsuna was a very collected being.
Setsuna, for her part, was trying hard not to laugh at the current situation. In the beginning she wanted to bite her own head off for losing her composure with Mara around. How she hated that woman! But when it became apparent that she got on Urd's good side by being Mara's enemy... Well, let us just say things couldn't have worked better for her.
After five more minutes, and seeing as there wasn't any paperwork left, Urd gratefully placed the pen down and massaged her sore hand. "Does Hild take care of this stuff?"
Setsuna nodded, unable to keep a tone of awe from her voice. "Every single day." She also had to bite her tongue to refrain from scolding her little sister about calling their mother by her given name instead of a more affectionate 'mom'. She knew how much Hild wanted to have the love of her children, though her definition of love was quite different from what the stupid mortals had.
"So how come I get to work on these? Shouldn't she take care of them, too?" Urd asked, trying to get out of this whole deal now that she knew it wouldn't be all fun at Mara's expense.
"Hild-sama is quite busy lately." That was mainly due to Ranma and Mara, but Urd didn't need to know that.
The goddess nodded with a sigh and regarded the demoness carefully. The marks on her face. "How come Hild sent a demoness Third Class to help me?"
Setsuna was quick to notice the suspicion creeping into Urd's voice and inwardly smiled, even if outwardly she was acting as serenely as was usual for her in her mortal guise. "I was actually a demoness First Class centuries ago." She frowned slightly. "I was in the middle of an assignment when Mara..." Setsuna wasn't even lying. Centuries ago she was First Class, just as she was right now. Her wording just made her sister think she was demoted. That and a little use of her domain powers of deception to alter her appearance.
Urd could tell whatever stood between the demonesses dated back to even before that incident, but Setsuna obviously didn't take lightly to what Mara did.
Before the goddess could ask anymore questions Setsuna reached into her briefcase once again, taking out a rather large stack of papers. After reading the first couple of lines the demoness turned to Urd. "Seems like Mara and Ranma had another disagreement."
Urd groaned and slammed her head against the table, wishing for some very strong sake.
