It wasn't like he couldn't just leave right then, as he was physically capable of it. Yet, to do so would leave the situation up in the air, and he couldn't be certain that his departure would do anything to stop it. For all he knew, this could have been going on long before he came along, with Kuno making a speech that said that 'only someone who could beat Akane could date her ' simply because he couldn't help himself. Okay, so he wasn't such a dignified individual before, but this time the idiot would likely have a reason forcing him to act like an ass.
But still, he couldn't just abandon them to possibly keep on acting out a timeline that wasn't around any more. As it was, the Tendos could be having to deal with a very real earthquake, or a supervillain attack, and they'd be unable to stop badgering someone who really wasn't answering back. If this had been some sort of recreation of the past timeline with actors, or high level holograms, he could have handled it better. But this was no show, and he was finding rather odd to be a spectator of what had been his previous life, though, without his participation this time. In fact, he could follow Akane into the furo room, watch her bathe and soak, and then smack air in the doorway, all without her even noticing that he was there. It was one thing to avoid her hits, but it was quite another to think that she would slam a table down on no one, and they would react as if she'd hit him.
Even if he left, they needed to be able to know that they were not about to be stuck in this repetition of a past that no longer existed. Once he knew that they'd be safe and able to control their own actions, then he might be able to leave. Perhaps when he got their situation fixed, he could get to have relationships with them based on the life that was going on in this timeline, but he could not be certain. All he did know was that there would likely be mystically inclined individuals who'd have a reason to come to see what was going on around him.
