In this lifetime, this Ranma was a bit smarter than that one.
Yet, it did not take brains to realize one particular thing. Looking down, he saw that his shoes were not as he remembered them. In fact, he could see that they were now bearing a lot of wear and tear, and he thought that he could see wisps of smoke rising from the soles for a moment.
There were a couple of minutes where he wasn't able to recognize what had happened. But as he reviewed what he'd been doing only a little bit earlier, he realized what it was. By running all that way, he'd been putting a lot of pressure on his shoes. Due to that, they were suffering from not only the distance, but the speed as well. To really understand it, one simply had to think of someone whittling, cutting down a piece of wood with each stroke of the knife. In this instance, the 'knife' was the ground, and the 'wood' would be the soles of his shoe. With each step, he'd been rubbing, crushing and ripping the bottom of his footwear along the ground beneath him.
And that told him that he had a lot of work ahead of him. All he'd wanted to do was to run away from those yellow suited idiots, but he'd wound up tearing out of the city before he noticed what was happening. That meant that he had to get a handle on this speed thing before it became a hassle. Running past a store, slamming into walls, or going fast enough to hurt someone were all things that he did not want to do, but could conceivably do if he didn't work on things now. In order to do so, he'd have to train, and do so as completely as possible. He would have to learn to control this new power, never mind having an ability to fight. Once he did manage it though, he could possibly use to protect his sister, just as he'd wanted.
The only thing that he couldn't figure out was when he'd picked up this 'speed technique'. Nothing he could remember told him just how he'd managed it, and the first time that he could recall using it was when those guys had come after him. Unfortunately, that didn't tell him just how he'd managed it, though he was going to keep on trying to figure that one out.
Still, it did not matter as much as the power itself, which he had to go and learn to handle, while:
