As he started the game and began creating his character, he failed to notice some details that didn't add up.
The copyright dates were set after the year 2000, the year of the Second Impact. The american entertainment industry had been dealt a grievous blow in the chaos that followed. Lucasfilm had been one victim. The project for filming episodes I, II, III and its merchandising died with the firm.
Basically, the game shouldn't exist in Shinji's world. The SRU wizard had VERY good suppliers, it seemed.
Shinji, lacking imagination (and subconsciously obeying a minor geas on the game, just called his character 'Shinji Ikari'. Oddly, he had found a portrait resembling an idealized older version of him and selected it, not finding it weird at this moment.
Shinji confirmed his choice and grinned as the Star Wars credits began rolling, explaining him the situation at the start of the Game.
Then, as he finally took control of his game alter-ego, he was suddenly sucked into the television set, much to Pen-Pen's surprise!
The distressed penguin could only watch helplessly. The game was now advancing at an accelerated pace on the screen for more than an hour.
Suddenly, without warning, someone reappeared. Despite the obvious changes, Pen-Pen knew with certainty that Shinji had returned. It was just that he was also...
