Chained World: Dojo Daughters [Episode 151401]

by Kender

"The thing is that in THIS world, it turned out the old Master was fond of raiding slave markets and such," said Genma. "More interesting to me was finding out that old Soun had never had a wife, but a few full-use slavegirls. So things are a little different in that Soun had daughters by his slavegirls. He had to re-sell the girls later to pay back taxes, but the daughters were promised as your own slaves when you were old enough."

Ranma sighed heavily and frowned. "I don't know what I should be payin' attention ta more? The fact that he had ta sell his slavegirls, or that he's gonna give me his daughters as my slaves."

"Either one would be fine boy, but I would say that you look toward the future."

"And just ignore that their moms've been sold off?"

"Can you do anything about it?"

"Nah...."

"Then pay attention to what he'll be giving you. Knowing him, he probably found good homes for each of them."

Those were words found herself understanding, as it was unfortunately not that much of an unusual occurence. All too many times, slaves were brought by people, companies, or organizations, and for whatever reason, would be sold to a third party. Sometimes this was simply treated as a business transaction, and sometimes the owner would take care in placing his or her slaves, but in the end, the effect was the same. That slave would be torn from their current lives, and all that they knew, as they would be dropped into new circumstances, and have to find their way to some sort of stability once more, without all that they had been emotionally connected to before. It was the life of a slave, and it was something that they all could experience, at one time or another.

Nominally, that was one of the reasons for creating slaves through artificial means. If a slave was made in a laboratory, then she wouldn't have the same emotional needs as a free person who was turned into a slave. The created slave could be made to have no hang ups, emotional ties, or problems with the life. In that, it would be easier for them... if they didn't have the other problems that it brought up.

So, she could understand her owner's concerns quite well, though it did seem that his father was rather kind at the moment.

"Besides, what can come from worrying about girls that you haven't even met? For all we know, they might have had less of a problem with it than you might think," Genma intoned. "And they had to know that it was always a possibility."

Then again, it was always possible that he was only thinking about what would be easier for him.... again.

"How great is that?" Ranma muttered sarcastically.

His father gave him a nod. "See? You're learning. You just have to adapt to the situation. And think of it this way. You're protecting his daughters from possibly being sold in the future."

"When will he learn?"

Rei looked back at Ranma. "When has he?"

"True...."

"You children...." Genma grumbled.

"Yeah, Pop?"

"You really should learn to respect your elders, you know that?"

"Why?"

"Humph. Stupid boy.... When you get there, you'll see that I'm right about this."

"Do you know about these girls then?" Rei asked.

"Not much more than I already told you?"

She simply raised a brow.

"I haven't been in regular contact with him, so for all I know, what information I could have had on his daughters would be finished, like if one was born after our last contact."

Her nod wasn't anything more than an acknowledgement, but there seemed to be a bit of something else behind it. Yet, she didn't make anything more of it as they headed to the dojo, where Soun Tendo would be waiting with his daughters who would be:
