Akane knew that her mother didn’t like it when she got wet from the koi pond, so was forced to run around the water feature. She grumbled loudly at Ranma, claiming that he was cheating.
Upon deciding that Akane was right, Kasumi and Nabiki chose to teach Ranma a lesson in fair play.
Ranma leapt across the pond, only to find his left leg not moving with the rest of him. “Aah!” he screeched as he took a dip in the water.
“Meanies!” he shouted at the girls.
“Serves you right for showing off,” Kasumi said in an aloof tone that was only marred by her struggles to keep from laughing as loudly as her sisters.
Ranma thought about pulling one of them in as revenge, but remembered that he had to behave today. Instead of a fitting, watery vengeance, he climbed out of the pond and went to look for his luggage.
“Wha’cha looking for?” asked Nabiki.
“My fings,” Ranma answered after looking under the house. “I need a towel and dry gi.”
Ranma walked up to the shoji doors and opened them. “Poppa, where’s the towel?”
“What happened to you son?” the stocky man asked.
“Some meanies made me fall in the pond,” Ranma unhappily replied.
“Were you practicing jumping over the pond?” Genma asked as he got up and made his way to the packs.
“Yes.”
Genma smiled as he handed a towel and spare gi to his son. “It’s good to see you practicing with your friends, son.”
Reiko looked at the soaked boy as looked for a private spot to change. “Follow me, Ranma-chan.”
Ranma didn’t move other then to look at his father.
“Don’t worry son, this is your Auntie Reiko and your Uncle Soun. They’ll look after you,” Genma smiled reassuringly.
“Yes Ranma-chan,” Reiko nodded as she wrapped the dripping child in the towel and picked him up. “How about a nice hot bath?”
“Can I?” Ranma asked, excited by the prospect by the first decent soak in a while.
“Of course you can, Ranma-chan.”
Soun turned his gaze outside where he saw his daughters look confused at the whole scene.
“What’s going on, Daddy?” Nabiki asked the adults. “Why’s Mommy taking Ranchan away?”
“It’s ok, Nabiki-chan,” Soun replied in a comforting voice. “Your mother is just making sure that Ranma doesn’t catch a cold. That’s why we tell you to keep out of the pond.”
“Oh, ok. Is Ranma going to visit us again?” Nabiki asked, hope audible in her voice.
“Is he, Daddy?” Akane also wanted to play with Ranma on a regular basis.
Soun looked at his daughters. “Well, I don’t know. It depends on whether or not my three lovely princesses can keep their rooms tidy.”
“We can keep them tidy,” Kasumi answered. “I’ll help them if I have to.”
Soun smiled broadly at his offspring. “In that case, I think that Ranma might want to stay for a few days.”
“A smelly boy staying in our house?” Kasumi wrinkled her little nose.
“He’s only smelly because you made him fall in the water, nee-chan,” Nabiki pointed out.
“Shush!” Kasumi turned to her sister. “You’ll get me in trouble.”
“You’re not in trouble, Kasumi-chan. Now, I want all of you to be nice to Ranma, but don’t let him get away with causing trouble, ok?”
The male parents smiled at the chorus of “Ok Daddy".
