Elsewhere in the Tendo house, discussions were going on concerning a certain boy. In the master bedroom, Soun was thinking about whether or not they should agree to look after Ranma in the event of Genma’s death.
Reiko decided that they would.
“But how can we afford to?” Soun asked his wife.
“This is all hypothetical, dear,” Reiko said with a smile. “Genma is just worried because of what happened to Nodoka and we probably won’t have to worry about it. But on the off chance that Genma passes away, then we just have to ask that he leaves us some money to help pay to raise Ranma-chan.”
“Ok, dear.”

In the eldest daughter’s room, the girls were talking about their new friend.
“Did you see those jumps he was doing?” Kasumi asked. “He was like a grasshopper.”
“I know,” Nabiki nodded.
“I could do them too,” Akane insisted.
“Maybe you should ask him to show you how,” Kasumi suggested.
“D’you think he would?” Akane asked. “He might be like the other boys and be really mean.”
“I bet that Ranma would help you if you asked him,” a voice from the doorway answered.
The girls turned to see their mother standing there with her hands on her hips. “I asked him when he was in the bath, and he said that he’d help his friends. Now since that’s all sorted how about you go to bed?”
“Yes Mommy,” was the reply.
