Ami sat down, her eyes staring. "What?"
"Like I said, it's a new speed technique, it's just I got some control problems to work out," said Ranma. "So I need to find a sensei who can teach me to control this stuff."
"I just," said Ami, reaching for an empty waterglass. zip a now full waterglass.
"As I accelerate, things around me seem to slow down," said Ranma. "However my heartrate doesn't seem to go up beyond what I'd do when I'm exercising. So my speed relative to the rest of me ain't changing. It's my speed relative to things around me that's getting messed up."
"Where are you going to find a teacher for this kind of speed?" asked Ami.
"America," said Ranma.
"Martial arts teachers in America?" asked Ami. She supposed they might have some good ones, but on this level was another question altogether.
"Nope. There was this guy named the Flash in the 30's and 40's and another guy named the Flash in the 60's and on," said Ranma. "The first one was in that Justice Society, the second one in that League of theirs. If anybody's gonna be familiar with this kinda thing, it'd be their 'Fastest Man On Earth' wouldn't it?"
"America?" said Ami, concerned - when a thought occurred. Ranma would be in America. Away from the yoma. Safe. "Good luck. I'll help cover with Mom."
"You sure?" asked Ranma, a little surprised at this attitude.
"What are sisters for?" asked Ami. "Go ahead. Study at the hands of this new sensei. Just send a message every so often."
Ami whistled happily. Okay, outsmarting her brother was shooting a fish in a barrel. Still, he was out of harm's way now. She could get on with things here and not worry about her brother showing up and getting ripped apart.
Ah, here was a reference. "The Flash." Hmmmm. Apparently able to run and move at speeds exceeding the speed of sound by several factors. He fought...
Ami twitched. What the heck were these idiots?! 'Mirror Master'? 'Gorilla Grodd'? 'Abra Cadabra'? Human yoma?!
Ami's head sagged. Just when she thought she could stop worrying about her brother, he found a new way to make her worry.
