Constantly thinking about it wouldn't help at all, but there was nothing else that she could think about. That was a problem for a girl who had other things to be concerned about, but as she did love her brother, and wanted him to be safe, she couldn't stop herself from trying to figure out something to keep him from being hurt. And all that worrying was having an effect that she had never thought would be involved with her.
"Hope your purchase will help you out," the man behind the counter told her. "Have hard exams, don't you?"
"Something like that," Ami replied, and took the bottle of Maalox that she'd just brought from him.
"You'd do better with something else."
"Mom's a doctor."
"I understand."
She wasn't sure that he could even come up with the truth, but then she didn't think that he'd be able to figure out what her real problems were like. Being a sailor suited heroine of love and justice who had a brother with a very major problem with physical speed wasn't exactly what one would normally associate with girls her age. Not that she wanted to bring it up, since that would cause more problems.
Though, she was pleased by the fact that she had a way to trail him, as she had managed to keep track of him through his shoe purchases. Since he wasn't likely to go around barefoot, he needed to keep his feet shod. That meant that every time that he had to pick up shoes, she could find out about it through the activity on his debit card.
But then, she wasn't sure that would be enough for her, as she'd prefer it if he was just safe at home at the moment. At the moment though, she was leaving a pharmacy, having brought something that she hadn't expected that she would ever need. However, as she gazed at the bag, she began to feel the urge to just chug the contents. She was already getting the familiar pains, and so she did the simple thing.
Taking out the bottle, she measured out a dose, and swallowed it, hoping that the medicine would settle what would likely grow into an ulcer, while:
