???Ken: Faster Than A Speeding Bullet? [Episode 154326]

by Kestral

Ranma ran as quickly as he could, learning exactly how fast that was as he did so.

As he started to run, he spotted a bird taking off. As he accelerated, the bird itself slowed down further and further until it had all but stopped. He passed the pigeon and was quickly through the flock before they'd had a chance to react to his presence.

Cars were mostly stopped along the roads, but once he found the bullet train in motion he actually had something to measure himself against.

The bullet train was one known to him. He'd used it before, during that fight with the poison ninja-type, to go to where he could find a sensei. Using its speed as a benchmark was therefore fitting.

Since it was well away from the Tokyo station and heading towards Osaka, Ranma knew what the speed of the vehicle was. When he literally ran a circle around it, he considered that, then turned his attention forward. Faster.

Now he was proceeding through a world of stalled cars and mannequins. He went past them, noting a girl had knocked over a bag of french fries, and he could pluck them from the air and place them back on the table before setting out again.

He was out on the road again, feeling the thickening air around him resist further the faster he went. Traction was difficult, and as he accelerated something else weird began to happen.

It was getting brighter ahead of him. Turning his head backwards, he could see it was getting a faint reddish tinge to the light. He pressed harder, trying to find his limit.

The thickness seemed to pop around him and he was through, the loss of the resistance causing him almost to stumble but then he was accelerating again.

He checked back, noticing the dimming red-tinged light again, then looked forward again when he heard splashing.

Ranma almost stopped when he realized that he was running across the surface of the water. Almost. He faltered briefly, but then was back to accelerating.

He had to stop in Hong Kong. He'd worn his shoes down and picked up three sets fairly cheap. Wearing one and putting the other two in his pack, Ranma put his debit card back in his wallet and found a place where he could begin accelerating once again.

Ami got back from the store, sat down and began reading more about this 'Flash' that her brother was seeking to learn from. Apparently the original Flash had been active in World War II, mainly in America and briefly in Britain where he'd met with a few other similarly gifted individuals and formed a group called the 'Justice Society Of America' and another group had formed in their wake for working abroad - the 'All Star Squadron' and another called 'Freedom Force.'

On seeing a photo of one of their female opponents, Ami had to admit that the old Sailor fuku didn't look nearly so bad anymore.

Flipping forward, she found a different Flash had appeared in the 1960s. Just as with the appearance of the earlier Flash, he seemed to regularly find people with similar fashion sense to fight with him.

To be fair though - it seemed that there were a number of these individuals who struck in smaller areas without significant opposing forces. There was a villain named 'Zombony' who was apparently some form of undead who was active in a place called Jamaica for over five years.

The 1960s Flash had joined the group that had followed the Justice Society - the Justice League.

Ami flipped through the familiar pictures, though she hadn't paid much attention to such things prior to Ranma's little problem. Now she was wondering if that had been a serious oversight on her part.
