While Makoto was perfectly happy to lose herself in shopping, then fixing enough meals to stock Ranma's refrigerator and freezer for several days - that wasn't Haruka's thing.
Haruka was out enjoying those things she could during her periods of freedom. The feel of the sun and wind. The bustle of crowds. Flirting with the occasional pretty young thing. All the things that defined life for her.
She did not blame Ranma for this, at least not anymore. The boy was pushing himself and burning out, trying to figure out a way to free them. He was also not (in her opinion) a terribly bright person, nor was he especially good at coping with events that were completely outside his expertise the way these things were.
He was trying though. That DID count for something.
Haruka was the Windy Card, and her powers as Sailor Uranus had mutated during that binding. She could do things she could not do as Sailor Uranus - which apparently Pluto had theorized as these bodies being magical constructs as opposed to being magically augmented. They were bound to their cards unless Ranma used his life energies to activate them and free them for the space of a day with that ritual.
He'd signed her card. That made her his slave, he was her master. Except he never did any commanding except those required to access her powers.
Finding a place to shift back, Haruka became the altered Sailor Uranus and let the winds carry her.
As Windy, she could fly. No mere leap into the air that seemed to stretch into long minutes. If she'd had this ability earlier, she would not have needed a helicopter to get into Mugen Gakuen. The wind spoke to her, telling her of many things that her mind interpreted in less primal terms. Barometric pressure. Air currents. A front was moving in and the vortices and fractal patterns whispered their secrets to her.
Windy was also the communicator amongst the Sakura Cards, but it was Time that was the communicator amongst the Ranma Cards. Even though Sakura had appeared as Ranma's rival while Haruka was dormant - she knew of this new development and could anticipate that perhaps someday soon Ranma would be able to activate three cards at once.
At which point she was hoping to get some time alone with Michiru, the Water Card.
It was simply the way the schedule had been drawn up, randomly.
Time and Destruction, or Pluto and Saturn, had just had their turn of freedom. Now it was Thunder and Windy, or Jupiter and Uranus, until Ranma was home from school this afternoon.
The wind whispered something to the flying girl that caused her to tuck arms and legs close to her body and dive downwards. This definitely bore looking into.
The school had a dress code, but it wasn't quite as severe as was common throughout Japan. The uniforms still had to be worn, but boys sometimes had ponytails or long hair or pigtails and so on.
Ranma was not the only boy in his age group attending this school who wore a pigtail.
"RANMA SAOTOME, PREPARE TO DIE!"
Genma looked up, saw the boy charging another boy, and snorted. Anyone with half a brain could see that wasn't Ranma. Even with this bandana-wearer charging the other from behind, it was obvious.
WHAM!
The boy slid and bounced along the ground, the impact of a bamboo umbrella sending him flying briefly.
"FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO LITTLE GIRLS, FOR THE HELL YOU HAVE PUT ME THROUGH! YOU WILL PAY!" thundered Ryoga Hibiki.
The boy on the ground, meanwhile:
