They were in the middle of some hot desert. The transport, with which they had arrived, looked terribly torn up. It looked like a first class miracle of the Emperor that they made the landing in one piece. Obviously the prayers of the ship's crew had held the ship together in the last minutes before the landing, because nothing else could have done so. She had yet to see anyone of the crew leaving the ship. She really hoped that the crew survived too.
The forward landing brace of the vessel had given way during the touch down, so that the nose of the ship was now buried in the desert sand. Incidentally the main freight ramp of the ship, through which various troop transports and pieces of heavy equipment had been loaded on the ship, was also situated at the front of the ship.
As far as she could tell from the various bits of information she had heard over the ship's intercom, it appeared that their escorts were destroyed during the fiery ride down as they shielded the transport from enemy fire.
Most of her battle sisters seem to be just a bit rattled by the landing, but the company's paramedics were treating a few for what looked like serious injuries in the shadows of the ship. At least three bodies in power armour lay in the shadow with pieces of cloth covering their faces. As she looked closer Usagi saw the markings of her squad on one of the armors, but her squad was complete ... save for Prioris Naru Osaka. She hadn't known the Prioris very well, as the Prioris had taken command of the squad just as they had embarked on the transport that had taken them to this Emperor-forsaken world. Just as she thought that it couldn't get any worse, she realized that Principalis Trakant was one of those who were treated by increasingly frenetic paramedics. With a feeling of increasing doom she looked back at the other two dead sisters and saw something that looked like the insignia of the company's Sanctus.
As she stood there, deep in shock, Usagi noticed Sister Minako Aino, one of her best friends in the squad, moving beside her. "Can it get any worugh... ." was all she managed to utter before Usagi clapped her hand over Mina's mouth.
"Please, never, ever ask something like that ever again," said Usagi before she took her hand from Minako's mouth. "Why?" ask Minako with a slight frown on her face. Before Usagi could answer, there was a metallic, screeching sound, as the lone defensive gun, atop the downed transport, turned toward a target on the other side of the ship. "That's why!" answered Usagi.
