Slayers Project L: Mazenda Attacks [Episode 153472]

by Disruptor

Lina woke up, as she sensed a burning bloodlust near her. Glancing around, she saw the inn she was in was on fire. She quickly grabbed up her sack and sprinted towards the window.

'If it wasn't for the threat, I'd say this was Naga's doing,' Lina thought, as she jumped out the window.

"Levitation!"

Lina's chimera boosting was strong enough to allow her spell to work partially. Instead of flying, she slowly descended to the ground. Lina turned to face the source of the burning anger. In front of her was a beautiful woman, standing in mid-air.

"Mazenda."

"You're really her aren't you? If I had known that you were Lina Inverse, I wouldn't have played with you back then."

"Fireball!"

Mazenda stared in shock as the fireball came streaking towards her. She batted it away and stared at Lina.

"You must be much stronger than I thought. I'm not taking the chance of you getting your full powers back," Mazenda said, as she pointed a hand at Lina.

Mazenda spoke a word that Lina didn't know and a blast of crimson energy streaked towards her. Lina jumped to one side and balled up to try and dodge the attack. She didn't make it. Lina was blown through one side of the inn and out the other. Lina stood up and looked down. The clothes that she had Xellos purchase for her had fallen into burning rags, leaving the odd costume behind. Fortunately, Lina's body protected the Demon Blood Talismans.

'Why am I still alive?' Lina thought.

"You should have been disintegrated by that spell. How?" Mazenda said in shock, as she landed near Lina.

Lina said nothing and tossed a punch at Mazenda. Mazenda reeled back, as Lina's fist had struck her. Lina saw the discolored mark her fist had left and felt a bit of worry.

'What the hell did you do to me Diol?'

"My my my. Whoever turned you into a chimera Miss Lina really knew what he was doing," Xellos' cheerful voice came from behind Mazenda.

Mazenda paled when she heard the voice. She spun around and stared at Xellos in fear and shock.

"You!" Mazenda shouted. "What are you doing here?"

"I really didn't think you'd be part of a Demon Cult, Miss Mazenda," Xellos replied shaking his head. "But since we're here, you do know what your founder has been up to, don't you? What he's returning with?"

"Krotz actually has it? He's actually coming back with...," Mazenda said with ever widening eyes.

"Yes. The Claire Bible. You and I are enemies because of this. Even if we weren't, I couldn't let you get away with stealing my manuscript."

While that little drama was going on, Lina took the time to sneak behind Mazenda. She clasped her hands together as if she was holding an ax and brought them down on Mazenda's back.

"Ow!" Mazenda cried out, as she turned to face both Lina and Xellos.

Xellos looked at Lina in shock. "You should not have been able to do that!"

"Blame the person who turned me into a chimera," Lina shot back. 'Great. I'm stuck wearing this outfit again.'

Xellos blinked and scratched his head in confusion. Mazenda's eyes darted from Lina to Xellos and she tossed herself back into the fire. Xellos recovered quickly and started chasing after Mazenda.

"Hey? Where do you think you're going?" Lina called.

"I intend to follow her."

"Into the fire?"

"For now, yes. I'll free up your spells somehow," Xellos said.

Xellos turned to Lina and put a hand on her shoulder. "I apologize for breaking up are partnership so soon after we formed it, but I must go. Now, can you give me any idea where their stronghold might be?"

"Mane. It's somewhere around there."

"Thank you. We shall meet again soon. I really do want to know who turned you into a chimera and what he used. You should be all right, due to your chimera body."

Xellos turned and walked to the inferno that was the inn. He smiled back at Lina and then jumped into the flames.

'What the hell just happened here?'

The next morning, Lina used one of her gems to buy a couple new sets of sorceress clothes and a girly dress with long sleeves. She slipped the dress on and stuffed the rest of her clothes into a pack. Like before, she wore what she was calling the chimera outfit under her clothes.

'At least this outfit is enchanted. I just wish there was little more to it than a body hugging sleeve,' Lina thought. 'I didn't like the way people looked at me while it was the only thing I was wearing.'
