Coupled Union - Warrior Bride: Second Homefront [Episode 153598]

by Kender

Looking over the Village from her home's front door, Cologne sighed, and wondered just how things had become so silly. Not that she regretted any of her recent decisions directly on the matter, but she knew that the situation wasn't exactly going quite as planned. It had just seemed that it would be a pretty simple matter, and would be one that had to happen.

After all, her great granddaughter was in love.

That should have been simple enough to understand, as even the more cranky members of the village could see it. They might not agree with it, but they knew that the young had the opportunity to get such relationships, even if they themselves had either already had theirs or given up on 'true love'. But her heir had come back as a married, and very happy woman, and none could fault her for that.

"How can you not let me go where my love is?!"

Well, Mousse could complain, but he was an idiot.

"She is not yours, and you had better get used to it," she instructed him.

"But we were meant to be together!" the nearly blind boy whined.

"There have been no signs from the ancestors, no history of romance between you two, and her heart has been given to another."

"Some outsider who hasn't stayed with her!"

"That was the fault of the fool of a father that he has, and is not a concern of yours."

"It is so a concern of mine, and if you won't help me, I'll just have to go after her!" Mousse barked. "Even if it's been so long, I'll go after her, and drag her back to where she belongs!"

Cologne simply cracked the end of her staff over his head, and he went down like a stone dropped from a cliff. "Stupid boy."

As he was unconscious, Mousse said nothing.

She shook her head, and wondered why fools seemed to come out of the woodwork. The others had honored the word that she and her great-granddaughter had given, and stifled any questions that they might have had. Being able to say that Shampoo's husband had been taken on a training journey did help, but there had always been those who had been rather doubting of that explanation, even with the evidence of photos, letters and other materials from the relationship. But then, along with Mousse and that fat moron, there were plenty of fools to be found, no matter what had been done.

At least her great-grandson-in-law was truly in love with Shampoo. In fact, the boy couldn't really see other girls and their appeal, due to his feelings for her. He treated her as an equal, and understood her a great deal. Of course, the boy was a bit skittish about being intimate with his wife, but that was clearly not from any dislike of her attributes. If his reactions were any indication, he was just unsure of the behaviors, and really liked her great-granddaughter's appearance. And that was actually something of a mark in his favor, as he wasn't close minded, didn't have a problem with women warriors, and wasn't like the hormonal sort of fool that many of the boys his age were.

Now, if only Shampoo and he got the chance to be together, and enjoy each other's company. Not only would she have an opportunity to show how well associating with the outside world could go, and have great-great-grandkids on the way, but it would make Shampoo happy.

And in the end, that was what mattered. No matter what happened, the joy that she had now that her great-granddaughter was so deeply in love, and was loved, was all the reason that she needed. That was the sort of thing that legends were made of, and any instance of it really happening was to be protected.

A smile crossed her face as she considered the wonderful relationship that Shampoo was on, while:
