That was all his father's fault, which was yet another thing that he could add to the old man's list of bonehead maneuvers. Sure, his father knew a lot about the Art, but sometimes he would do things that were thought through just enough to give him a possibility of getting some benefit, even if it was a half assed plan. Most of the time, it would just wind up with some rather stupid results, and this was one of those times.
The pigtailed boy jabbed his hands into his pockets, and wondered what would have happened if his old man had just kept his mouth shut. Usually, when his Pop would start spouting his nonsense, all that had to be done would be for him to mock the old man. There tended to be no trouble at all in those instances, other than the occasional fight between father and son.
Unfortunately, this time it had happened in the middle of a village of Amazons.
His old man had actually managed to do something right in getting them close to where the Amazon Village was. Ranma had been pleased, as that would mean that he could be reunited with his wife, who he had been missing for so long. Just being able to be reunited with the one girl who he could feel connected to on so many levels was something that he actively looked forward to. Sure, she was a gorgeous young woman with a body that anyone would have to agree was pretty sexy, but it was her openly caring and forthright spirit that really drew him to her. Plus, there was the fact that he couldn't think of another girl who was that dedicated to the Art.
Right up until they were reunited, he was imagining all that would happen. Knowing her, she would be looking to show him a lot of affection, and then would want to cook something for him. It didn't matter that home chores were for the men in her culture, as she liked doing things like that for him. Of course, he didn't mind helping out too, as they were basically partners in whatever they did.
But his father had managed to find a way to mess things up. Already grouchy about Ranma pointing out that there had to be a reason for laying out food like that, Genma had been in a mood to prove that he knew better about life. So, when Shampoo had won her fight, seen her husband, and come down to hug him, the Saotome Patriarch had immediately responded.
But as Genma didn't have the right idea about the situation to begin with, he was starting off on the wrong foot. Somehow, he got the idea that he should start admonishing his son for allowing some strange girl to grab him like that. She might be training in the Art, but that wasn't a reason to be so affectionate towards her, in his opinion. When Ranma started snapping back at him, he'd gotten to be rather annoyed, and informed his son that even if they were holding a 'silly little tournament' there, it didn't mean that he had to be so excited about the place. In fact, he even said that he knew better than either one of them, and that the girl should listen to what he had to say, because he knew what she really should be doing.
Everyone around him had known that he was trying to play the 'wise old sensei' card, but as he was being a bit too pompous at the same time, it was annoying more than it was 'explaining'. As a result, Shampoo was growing rather angry, Ranma was getting embarrassed, and the other Amazons just the elder Outsider male was an idiot.
And then the Guide had tried to be helpful by informing Genma that the Amazons had such a warrior culture that they had laws about killing outsiders who caused trouble in some situations.
Because of that, Genma came to think that, due to how he was getting close to having a 'mob' situation, and already had one of the Amazons mad at him, he was going to be held to that law. Since he preferred his head to stay on his body, he decided that there was only one thing to do. He grabbed his son, and ran for as much distance as he could put between himself and the Amazons.
So, rather than spending time enjoying cuddling up to his wife's toned, yet very curvy body as he enjoyed her cooking, Ranma had wound up eating camp rations as he huddled against the chill. Instead of enjoying the chance to sleep under a roof, and in a bed, he'd had to listen to wind flutter the fabric of his tent. And he'd had to do it with a father who insisted that it had been a 'good thing' that he had 'been so alert' back in the village.
Even now that he was back in Tokyo, Ranma wanted to pound his father for that day's stupidity. About the only good thing about the old man's plans at the moment was that they would be bringing him to meet his old friends, the Tendo sisters. Not only would he be enjoying the chance to see them again, but they knew and understood about Shampoo. It would be an opportunity to enjoy their company, and get in contact with his wife.
Having that coming up, Ranma kept himself calm and collected as he walked, while:
