Well, one of the reasons.
The Tendo School Of Martial Arts frowned on relying on weapons. One of the reasons she'd never become an exclusive user of the mallet. So she'd used whatever blunt object was available usually.
The entire idea of wearing a sidearm was distasteful to her. Wear it and indicate you weren't a casual victim but almost certainly she would have to use it at some point if she did.
She had pitiful lasers, minimal shields, and a ship that was as likely to break down as keep going. She also needed a co-pilot, preferably one that was cheap and also knew how to make repairs as they went along.
So she had one job lined up already, working for the Hutt. Some kind of electronic gizmo that was apparently illegal as all hell and frowned on by both the Rebellion and Empire.
She had a handful of Huttese markers, local currency and not normally exchangeable with Imperial credits, and her first priority would have to be:
