So, he led them all in, and gestured for them to sit down at the table, with his family on one side, and the two Saotomes on the other.
"Now that we're all here, everything will be fine," Soun pronounced, sounding like the proud father that he was.
Genma nodded. "Exactly, old friend. Here we are, on the start of something very important."
"You're just so right, old friend. After all, I am so pleased to have you both here."
"As we are to be here. Though, there is still one question left. Which one of your daughters will be my son's bride?"
"Well, there is Kasumi, who is nineteen, Nabiki, who's seventeen, and my youngest, Akane, who is sixteen," the Tendo patriarch commented. "All that has to be done is to pick one of them, and the schools can be joined."
"No, you can't," commented Kasumi softly, bringing surprised stares from her family.
"Why not? It's a simple enough decision."
"But it isn't. What you are saying is that we should simply drop one of us onto him, and that wouldn't fair to us or him. And it wouldn't be at all proper."
Nabiki found herself to be impressed with her sister, but kept it only to her gaze. "You're right about that, sis."
"I know. If one wants to arrange a marriage, there are rules to doing it. There hasn't even been a proper meeting here, and I would think that it would be necessary to have one."
"Too true. There isn't exactly the traditional set up for such a traditional activity, is there?"
"There is not," the eldest of the sisters confirmed.
"And if you're going to try something, one really should make sure that it can be done, and done properly. Like the fact that the parents of the proposed couple are supposed to be there. We've got the fathers here, but no mothers. I know why my Mom isn't here, but where is your wife, Mister Saotome?"
Gaping like a caught fish, Genma stared at the girls. "I.... That is...."
"Aren't you going to tell us?"
"Maybe he's just going to keep on choking," Akane muttered, sharing a look of amusement with Ranma.
"Trust me. If he can't say somethin' that sounds good, he makes up somethin'," the pigtailed boy told her.
Both fathers looked at each other, and wondered why things couldn't go as easily as they'd assumed they would.
Walking down the street was something that Hiroshi had always thought would be a simple thing. It wasn't exactly a hard concept, and he'd been doing it ever since he was a toddler. Now that he was grown, he'd have preferred some sort of motorized transportation, but this did have its benefits. At least by going on foot, he could go through areas without having to worry as much about traffic.
Though, he did stop because of a car coming his way, but it wasn't about to block his path. He paused at first because of the fact that it was one fine automobile, and he'd always wondered what it would be like to ride in one of those convertibles like the one that had just passed him. But when he saw it stop up the block, he saw something else that definitely made him happy.
The driver's door opened, and a foot in a low heeled ankle boot slid out of the car. It was followed by what looked like an impossibly long female leg, and was joined by a second one. After both feet had stepped onto the ground, a really attractive blonde slipped out to a standing position. Her movements were smooth and graceful, and he found himself staring at both her lovely profile, and her firm backside when she turned to close her door. His only complaint was that her eyes were hidden behind sunglasses. She had to be one of the loveliest females that he'd ever seen, and he couldn't look away.
That was proven when he walked right into a street post.
Haruka Ten'ou never noticed the boy who had been so fixated on her. Rather, she was already looking for the address of where a certain trio of friends lived, and where she could find someone important to her. She was dedicated to that end, and she let a smile curve her lips as she started walking, while:
