"Why?" her father asked. "I'm just greeting my old friend and his son."
"Other than you nearly hugging the guy to death...."
"That was unintentional, daughter."
"I know, and that isn't the point," his middle daughter said, waving off any concern about it.
"Then what is?"
"You want us to discuss family business? Then it's best done inside, where the neighbors won't be entertained by what happens."
"And it is only polite to bring them into the house, and make them comfortable," Kasumi murmured.
"You're both right," Soun agreed with a sigh.
"Then why don't we all go in, okay? We can have some refreshments, and we can talk about what's going on."
"Sounds good to me," Genma replied, brightening up considerably. "Let's go then."
The Tendo patriarch put an arm around the portly man's shoulders. "Of course, old friend!"
"You guys should just remember one thing though," Nabiki put in as they headed in to the house. "I've got someone coming to visit."
"At a time like this."
"Yes, she is coming."
"You really should call her, and ask her to come at another time."
"Can't."
"Why not?"
Giving a shrug, the middle Tendo daughter looked almost contrite. "She's a racer, and spends a lot of time training. In fact, she does more than one type of racing, even if her track team efforts would be more than enough to get her recognized as great."
"Really?" the pigtailed boy asked, feeling a whole lot of excitement at the person that he was certain that she was describing.
"Yup. Called her earlier, and she's made certain that she'd be coming."
"I understand...."
"I don't, but I'll let this slide, daughter," the tall man sighed. "Fortunately, I'm certain that we can handle thing before your friend comes."
"But she's not the only one," commented Nabiki.
"WHAT?!"
"There is a woman that I know who's like to be coming too. She's a very nice person, who is very maternal. I'm certain that she'd love to help out with any dealings with weddings."
"Why should she?"
"Oh, she's just a loving person, who would treat the three of us like daughters."
"I see...."
"Don't worry. She's big on doing things just the right way."
"Good."
"It'll be nice to have her here," Akane commented, giving a pointed look to the pigtailed boy. "She's a great person that each of us knows well."
Ranma took a moment to understand what she was saying, but when he did, a smile grew on his features. "I'm sure that I'll enjoy seein' her."
"I hope so. But I'm sorry about this, Saotome," Soun said, shaking his head in disbelief. "I didn't think that my daughters would be this irresponsible."
"It's alright, Tendo. Things like this happen. But it's not like anything could happen that could stop things from going on how we planned," Genma soothed.
All four teenagers had to smother their reactions to what he'd said, and tried to keep themselves calm, while:
